Over the Edge
I’ve spent a lot of time at the Hyatt Regency Orlando for IAAPA Expo, but this February was the first time I stood on the roof as someone directed me to “back my heels off the ledge.”
My stomach sinks a little even recalling the moment.
IAAPA’s partnership with Give Kids The World is a solid one., For more than 25 years, the global attractions industry has come together to support its mission of making dreams come true for critically ill kids and their families. Each time IAAPA hosts fundraising efforts, our members show up (whether in-person or virtually).
As I rappelled down the 32-story hotel with John Hallenbeck, IAAPA’s vice president of North America, I couldn’t help but think that the courage it took to overcome my fear of heights was nothing compared to the courage that the amazing kids and families who visit Give Kids The World Village face each and every day.
Once my feet met the ground, I was overcome with gratitude for the Village and for the ongoing passion IAAPA members have in our continual partnership with this special place. I hope that each time I’m faced with a fear in the future, I remember this courage and that we all have what it takes to go “over the edge.”
