During this IAAPA Webinar available exclusively to IAAPA members, hear from U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy (D-FL), as she addresses congressional efforts to help businesses throughout the U.S. attractions industry and their employees during the pandemic.

Congresswoman Murphy will also discuss the status of negotiations of the next stimulus package and what to expect from Congress for the remainder of the year.

She will help IAAPA members understand the specific policies being negotiated and how they would benefit the U.S. attractions industry including, but not limited to:

  • Employee Retention Tax Credit
  • Tax credits for personal protective equipment
  • Liability protection
  • Federal backstop for pandemic risk insurance

U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy proudly represents Florida’s Seventh Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The district includes all of Seminole County and much of northern Orange County, including downtown Orlando, Maitland, Winter Park, and the University of Central Florida. She currently serves on the influential House Ways and Means Committee, where she is a member of the Subcommittee on Trade and the Subcommittee on Worker and Family Support.

Previously, Congresswoman Murphy was a businesswoman and college instructor after serving as a national security specialist in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense where she received numerous awards for her distinguished service, including the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service. She worked on a wide range of security issues from counterterrorism to foreign military relations to strategic planning for the department. Prior to her public service, Stephanie was a strategy consultant at Deloitte Consulting.

Congresswoman Murphy holds a M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Economics from the College of William and Mary. She lives in Winter Park, Florida, with her husband and two young children.

For over three and a half decades, Denise Beckson has served Morey's Piers & Resorts, a family-owned business located in the Wildwoods on the Jersey Shore. She has worked in numerous capacities throughout her career there and currently serves as a VP/Officer, specifically overseeing the business’s Human Resources and Government Affairs Divisions. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a Masters from American University.

Denise is active and passionately involved in the industry at-large. Within New Jersey, she is a member of several Board of Directors, including NJ Business Industry Association, NJ Travel Industry Association, and NJ Amusement Association (NJAA). She is First Vice Chair on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Restaurant and Hospitality Association (NJRHA). Through an appointment by the Cape May County Board of County Commissioners, she also serves on the Workforce Development Board of Cumberland, Salem, and Cape May Counties.

Denise currently serves on the IAAPA Board of Directors and is Chair of the North American Regional Advisory Board. Denise is an IAAPA Certified Attractions Executive (ICAE) and was previously honored with IAAPA’s Meritorious Service Award in recognition of her service to and for the association.
