Tracy began her career at the San Diego Zoo in 1977.  In 1981 graduated from SDSU with a BA in Environmental Design, and a minor in Political Science.  Tracy joined the Food Service Management team at the Zoo in 1982 where she work in several management positions over the next 20 years.  In 2002 she moved 30 miles north of the San Diego Zoo to the San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park, as the interim Associate Food Service Director.  In 2003 she became the permanent Director of Food Service at the Safari Park.  In 2011 the corporate decision was made to merge the Food and Merchandise Departments, Tracy then became the Director of Retail Operations.

Tracy has been involved with several Food and Beverage organizations and committees over the years including; Food and Beverage Management Association, Amusement and Theme Park Food Service Conference, National Association of Catering Executives and several years on the IAAPA Food and Beverage Committee.   In 2013-2015 Tracy served as a Brass Ring Judge for IAAPA’s innovations and New Products in Food Service.

Terry Capener

Terry Capener grew up in Davis County, Utah and graduated from Clearfield High School. He attended Utah State University where he received both his B.S and B.A. degrees. He obtained an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Terry is currently the General Manager and Vice President at Lagoon Amusement Park located in Farmington, Utah. He has worked at Lagoon for the past 40 years. He is thankful that he “gets” to go to work every day instead of “having” to go to work every day.

He has many outside interests and currently serves as Past Chair of the Utah Restaurant Association and has been an active member for the past 20 years. He is the Past Chair of the Davis County Tax Advisory Board and works with EDCUTAH. He is also currently the Vice Chair of the Layton/Ogden Leadership Learning Academy Charter School.

His passions are his family, traveling, and cooking (ok, let’s be totally honest…he has a passion for eating!)

Walter started at Six Flags Over Georgia at the age of 16 and spent the next 30 years working at various Six Flags parks. Along with Six Flags Over Georgia, he served as the Food Service Assistant Manager and later Food Service Manager at Six Flags AstroWorld/WaterWorld in Houston, Texas. After the closure of AstroWorld, Walter went on to Six Flags Magic Mountain in the Greater Los Angeles area as the Food Service Manager where he oversaw the Food Service and Catering Departments for Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor.
Walter left Six Flags to work for a startup park company, Adrenaline Family Entertainment as the Revenue Director at Alabama Adventure. He also spent time as an industry consultant before joining Schlitterbahn Galveston as their Food & Beverage Director. Walter joined Typhoon Texas Waterpark in Houston, Texas in 2016 as the Revenue Director, where he oversaw Food & Beverage, Retail, Rentals, Front Gate and Group Sales.

In November of 2021, Typhoon Texas branched out to include Water Parks in Las Vegas, Nevada. Walter was named to the newly created position of Senior Director of Revenue Operations for the company’s parks in Texas and Las Vegas.

Walter received his BS in Hospitality Management from Georgia State University. He volunteers at his Church (Grand Parkway Baptist) as well as coaching youth basketball and baseball.

Along with Bernie, Whirley has worked to pioneer the refill/souvenir container offerings for the Amusement Park and Attractions Industry.
