IAAPA Expo Europe Prepares to Shine in the City of Light
Home to well-known landmarks including the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, Paris will soon host the largest international conference and trade show for the leisure and attractions industry in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. IAAPA Expo Europe (formerly called Euro Attractions Show), taking place Sept. 16-19, will welcome more than 15,000 leisure, attractions, tourism, and entertainment industry professionals from more than 100 countries to Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, the largest exhibition center in France.
In addition to an expansive trade show floor showcasing the latest innovations, an education program offering more than 100 hours of learning opportunities will feature an exclusive EDUTour visiting two area theme parks, two Lunch and Learn events, presentations by some of Europe’s leading operators, and 15 general education sessions covering topics ranging from facility operations and guest experience to communications and sustainability. Networking will also play a large role at IAAPA Expo Europe, with numerous events designed to facilitate connections with regional and international colleagues, share information, and create conversations that elevate businesses.
More to Explore on the Show Floor
Lights from virtual reality (VR) games, sounds from state-of-the-art rides, and aromas from food and beverage offerings will fill more than 17,000 net square meters of exhibition space at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. More than 600 exhibiting companies from all corners of the leisure and attractions industry will display their cutting-edge products and services for attendees to see and experience on the largest trade show floor in IAAPA Expo Europe’s history. More than 9,000 influential buyers and decision-makers representing amusement parks, attractions, water parks, family entertainment centers, zoos, aquariums, science centers, resorts, and more are expected to explore the exhibit hall.
Building Connections at Special Events
From the first note of the Opening Ceremony to the last remark of the brand-new Future Feature event, IAAPA Expo Europe’s special events offer attendees the chance to forge valuable connections while gaining practical insights they can use to carry their businesses into the future.
Kicking off the expo experience, the Opening Ceremony on Sept. 17 features live entertainment, updates on what’s new in the EMEA region, and a preview of what’s ahead for the global attractions industry and IAAPA. The evening’s Opening Reception will bring together industry professionals from around the world to mix, mingle, and enjoy specialty food and beverages at Jardin d’Acclimatation, an amusement park in the heart of Paris that recently underwent a major transformation.
During the next morning’s Leadership Breakfast, Nicolas de Villiers, président, Puy du Fou, will deliver a keynote address focused on the success of Grand Parc and upcoming international expansions. Leaders, owners, and executives from a variety of attractions and leisure businesses will be able to connect over breakfast.
Special events geared toward students and young professionals will take place on the evening of Sept. 18. The IAAPA Foundation’s Students Forum will link students with global attractions industry leaders and veterans to offer career advice. The Young Professionals Forum will present a discussion led by a panel of special guests and young professionals to tackle topics such as career options within the attractions industry, professional development avenues, and industry trends. After both forums, students and young professionals will come together for a reception at Le Manoir de Paris.
Future Feature: The Future of Disneyland Paris is a new ticketed lunch session on Sept. 19, featuring Natacha Rafalski, présidente, Disneyland Paris, who will share the vision, ambitions, and highlights of what is in store for the beacon of the Disney brand in Europe.
In-Depth Learning Experiences to Remember
IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers at Disneyland Paris kicks off the in-depth learning experiences offered at IAAPA Expo Europe. From Sept. 14 to 16, the 2.5-day immersive course for entry-level management professionals seeking to create stronger teams combines classroom instruction, video presentations, teamwork, and field exploration to dig into the business of running an attraction.
Several in-depth learning experiences will be held on Sept. 16, including Indoor Entertainment Day (previously known as Family Entertainment Center / Small Park / Indoor Playground Day). The event will present inspirational education sessions and unique networking opportunities to professionals interested in the business of indoor leisure facilities, like indoor playgrounds, mini-golf, laser games, bowling, trampolines, climbing, escape games, and VR parks. Indoor Entertainment Day will also include a site visit to a unique attraction in Paris. The Water Park Forum is a seminar and networking educational event developed specifically for water park owners, operators, designers, and manufacturers, who will take part in a tour and networking reception at Villages Nature Paris, home to the Aqualagon indoor water park. IAAPA Safety Institute provides attractions owners and operators with the latest developments and best practices in ride safety standards, loss prevention, risk management, ride design, and safety compliance. The event will conclude with a tour of Parc Astérix and an EN/ASTM meeting.
The EDUTour to La Mer de Sable and Parc Astérix on Sept. 16 will take participants on exclusive, guided tours of two popular amusement parks just outside the French capital. The full-day experience will include presentations about operational best practices and networking receptions.
Two Lunch and Learn events will take place during IAAPA Expo Europe. On Sept. 17, attendees will learn about the French attractions industry with keynote speakers from Looping Group and Compagnie des Alpes, and on Sept. 18, participants will look at the latest industry developments in the Middle East and Africa.
Earn IAAPA Certification Credits at IAAPA Expo Europe
Certain education programs at IAAPA Expo Europe are eligible for continuing education credit toward IAAPA Certification:
- Participants in the IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers will earn 16 credit hours.
- Participants in the IAAPA Safety Institute will earn four credit hours.
- Conference program attendance is worth 10 credit hours total.
