I loved its immersive nature and its connection to experience culture, but its time in Funworld wouldn’t come until Meow Wolf went a step further with a dark ride! Dolly One-On-One (from July 2019)
In all the world, there is only one Dolly Parton—and yes, she is just as warm, gracious, and humorous as you would believe. Funworld had the honor to sit down with Dolly one-on-one for our July cover story highlighting Dollywood’s largest expansion to date. Midway through the interview I embarrassed myself after swallowing an insect. When water arrived, Dolly didn’t miss a beat: “Drink the whole thing … I’ll wait,” she deadpanned. Once the cameras stopped rolling, I enjoyed an additional five minute conversation with Dolly, where she filled me with joy and inspiration—a moment I will never forget. See full article.
Pop-Up Popularity (from July 2019)
I find pop-up experiences very exciting because they present unique, limited-time opportunities to become immersed in an attraction, theme, or brand, while having fun taking one-of-a-kind photos and videos to share on social media. This story is one of my favorites because it explores what goes into creating a pop-up—including marketing, location, retail, and theming—and the potential for going viral. See full article.
