IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers Presents Valuable Insights in Manila
The IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers is the attractions industry’s premier professional development program for leaders with five or fewer years’ experience in attractions management. In Manila, Philippines, 50 attendees from nine countries took part in a two-and-a-half-day program that focused on the key disciplines and processes required to manage a successful attraction.
Mario Mamon, chairman and president at Enchanted Kingdom Inc. and 2014 IAAPA Chairman of the Board, welcomed attendees to the Makati Shangri-La, Manila hotel for the event in July. The program began with an introduction to the attractions industry, followed by sessions centered on revenue operations, financial management, marketing, public relations, human resources, and leadership. At the end of the first day, attendees embarked on a tour of KidZania Manila, where they participated in a lively parade.
The program’s second day looked at facility operations and safety, while building on the learning themes from the previous day. The final day of the IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers brought attendees together for group work and case study presentations. Throughout the program, attendees had the opportunity to network and interact with speakers, which included Doug Akers, ICAE, senior director, park operations, Universal Studios Beijing; Amanda Byrne, chief experience officer, Scenic World Australia; Mark Dvorchak, managing partner, Pro Forma Advisors LLC; Joseph Leung, ICAE, senior director, food service operations, Universal Studios Beijing; and Shaun McKeogh, ICAE, founder and president, Attractions Academy.
