From the Floor: WhiteWater

Just in time for IAAPA Virtual Expo: Asia this summer, WhiteWater announced the installation of its first Orbiter water slide at OCT Group’s new water park Adventure Bay. A part of OCT Group’s Xiangyang, China, integrated leisure resort, Fabland, Adventure Bay features numerous WhiteWater attractions. Orbiter, called “Turbo Shuttle” at the park, features high-banking turns and an ascending 360° loop. The ride converts the exciting features of AquaLoop to a family raft ride for four to six riders. According to Adventure Bay, the ride has become one of the stars of the park and its visible ride experience helps draw attention from guests.
“Our inspiration for the Orbiter stemmed from two considerations—the rider and the spectator. We think water slides can be almost as exciting for the guests waiting in line as they can be for the guests on the ride,” the company said in a release. “Just like how people marvel at iconic 360° loops on roller coasters, we envisioned creating a water slide that would draw the spectator’s attention as much as the riders.”
Orbiter also features what the company calls “the first ever open twisted drop entry.”
“Creating high speeds upstream, our team needed to innovate further and created a state-of-the-art water brake injection system to slow the water flow and create a smooth deceleration for the rest of the ride,” WhiteWater said. “With these brand-new innovations, the Orbiter provides anticipation as well as a smooth ride experience, hitting the mark in both safety and thrills.”
WhiteWater has collaborated with OCT Group on 14 projects at 10 water parks throughout mainland China.
