A vibrant ice sculpture worked in tandem with the blue drape shrouding SeaWorld Orlando’s latest addition to stop folks in their tracks on Tuesday. The frozen “Ice Breaker” logo provided a hint as to what was hiding under the curtain as Premier Rides (Booth #5100) unveiled the lead car for its new quadruple launch coaster.
“All the time you’re doing these amazing launches, you’re going to be having amazing airtime moments,” said Jim Seay, president of Premier Rides. “This ride is going to kick it.”
The sleek new ride vehicle features icy graphics on its nose cone—styled as if the lead car could indeed carve through ice. However, riders will remember the new ride for elements that defy gravity.
A 100-degree beyond vertical spike, two forward and two backward launches, over-banked turns, and a top hat element will thrill riders when “Ice Breaker” opens at SeaWorld Orlando in spring 2020.
“Not only do we have that beyond vertical drop, the ride has a 48-inch-tall height requirement, so many families can ride together,” said Brian Andrelczyk, SeaWorld’s vice president of design and engineering.
