Phil Simon oversees professional exchange programs at CIEE. This includes BridgeUSA (J-1 visa) programs like Summer Work Travel. Phil manages CIEE’s relationship with the U.S. Department of State. Phil’s career in international education has spanned 30 years. He lives in Portland, Maine with his young family.

Erica Carley Harris has headed up CIEE’s advocacy and political engagement since 2017 and has been deeply involved in federal and state advocacy in support of international education and exchange programs, including leading industry coalitions. She joined CIEE in 2012 as a Study Abroad Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa and later transitioned to community relations for the J-1 Summer Work Travel program. Erica received her B.A. from Barnard College and a Master’s in Comparative Literature from the University of Colorado, Boulder, specializing in French, Spanish, and Arabic. She lives in Brunswick, Maine, with her husband and two very small children.

Six Flags

Richard has been working in the theme park industry since 1974. A San Diego native, Richard started as a ride operator with SeaWorld and worked at the SeaWorld parks in San Diego, Cleveland and Florida. In 2000, he joined Six Flags as the Corporate Director of Human Resources. In this capacity he oversees policy administration, visas and employee issues across Six Flags’ domestic and international properties.

Richard and his wife, Sheila, currently reside in Fort Worth, Texas.
