Dan Sawatzky

Imagination Corporation

Dan Sawatzky is best described as a creative force and visual storyteller extraordinaire. His art career spans more than fifty years of magic. Dan's passion is to design and create imaginative worlds that take people from the normal world to places of delight and wonder. After a number of years of learning the ropes in the theme park business Dan founded the Imagination Corporation in 1992. Their specialty is creating award winning themed environments, features and dimensional signs for smaller theme parks and FECs. They have successfully completed many projects across North America, the Caribbean and in Dubai. One of Dan’s many passions is to share his theme park knowledge with the industry. While most companies in this exciting business hide behind endless NDAs and operate in hidden studios, Dan instead freely shares all he knows, firmly believing that the the more we share, the better this industry will become for everyone. It is all about continually raising the bar. As one example of this philosophy, each year, Dan and his crew offer a three day, hands-on workshop in their studio. Here, everything they have learned through the decades is shared without reservation. Those who sign up for this workshop can ask any question, take as many photos as they wish and try their hand at everything the Imagination Corporation crew does on a daily basis. A variety of small projects are accomplished, individually and in small groups to learn how to create visual magic for theme parks. As a testament to their popularity, these workshops typically sell out as soon as they are offered with attendees coming from around the world. Dan also sits on the CGT Industrial Advisory Board for Purdue University, Indiana in the hope of sharing his knowledge and experience with those who are just starting out in this exciting industry.
