Join us for a live, interactive IAAPA Safety Institute from the comfort of your home or office. Safety is the attractions industry's main pillar and priority: safety for guests, for employees, and safe equipment and facilities operation and maintenance.

This virtual program will take place over two days and offers introductory content about safety, as an opportunity for entry-level parks and attractions operators, and anyone with an interest in the attractions industry safety, to learn about safety standards and their application to attractions, risk management, and best practices of operation and maintenance.

Doug began his career at Busch Gardens Tampa in 1998, working through a variety of leadership roles and positions within the Merchandise Department, including VIP Tours, Vending, Revenue Auditing, Stroller Rental, and general retail operations.

Following several years working with Busch Gardens, Doug joined Universal Orlando in 2004, serving management roles in both the Attractions Operations department as well as Parking & Transportation. 

In 2007 Doug was part of the opening management team for Hard Rock Park, running the day to day operations as the Attractions Manager and working with a highly talented team to bring to life the park where “rock comes to play”. 

Doug joined Resorts World Sentosa in 2009 as part of its pre-opening and opening management team for Universal Studios Singapore, supporting the Attractions Operations department. Following the opening of the theme park and stabilization of operation, Doug had the opportunity to pre-open and launch the new Marine Life Park facility featuring Adventure Cove Waterpark, Dolphin Island, and S.E.A. Aquarium.  Doug has had the opportunity to cross multiple departments in a variety of leadership roles during his time at Resorts World Sentosa including all Operations divisions, Business Development, and Food & Beverage.

Doug joined his current role in 2016 as part of the planning and operational readiness for the Universal Beijing Resort, working closely with Universal Creative as well as the Chinese Partner.   In his role after successfully opening the resort – he is responsible for Park Operations – consisting of Attractions, Admissions, Guest Services, VIP Tours, Event Operations, Event Services, and Operations Safety/Compliance teams.
 
While maintaining an active career within the theme park and attraction industry, Doug is also a graduate of the University of Central Florida – Rosen College of Hospitality Management with a Bachelor’s of Science in Hospitality, focusing on theme park and attraction management.
 
Doug has also worked with AIMS and IAAPA in the role of show ambassadors for several expos both IAAPA Expo and IAAPA Asia Expo and is an active member of IAAPA while previously sitting on the Young Professional committee, Asian Advisory Committee, Asia-Pacific Education Committee, and former Chair of Asia-Pacific Membership Committee.

Anna is Managing Director of Hospitality Intelligence LLC, a safety, operations, and guest service consultancy company in the amusement & attractions industry. She has been living in Vietnam for the past four years, delivering training to Attractions clients in Asia to boost safety standards, improve training methods, execute world-class operations, and bring about cultural awareness.

Projects in Vietnam include ICE! at Saigon Centre, ICE! at AEON Mall Tan Phu, Sanrio Hello Kitty Ice Town, Just Kidding Family Entertainment Center (includes outdoor rides, indoor playground, a restaurant, events, and group classes), The Family Fun Fair @ SC VivoCity Shopping Mall (includes outdoor rides, games, and F&B), among others. Additionally, Anna represents International Ride Training LLC in the Asia-Pacific region, where she teaches courses in safety schools and conducts safety audits.

Furthermore, representing Mobaro Park, Anna works with clients across Asia, empowering their teams to use technology to improve safety, maintenance, and operations.Prior to her career in Attractions, Anna carries eight years of global affairs & international business experience across a variety of entities, including the U.S. Department of State. Missions of previous employers span from international government development, diplomacy, intelligence, security & defense, to food & travel. She served as the Japan Strategy Manager for Northrop Grumman's Global Business Development Organization and as a Consultant/Global Context Analyst to other international offices. In these roles, she provided market, customer, and competitive intelligence analysis to support business development efforts. Moreover, Anna trained the new international offices on the application of cultural awareness, historical context, and current global environment issues to strategy design. She now applies her intelligence and international business backgrounds to the international attractions industry. 

Anna is certified in Levels I & II SCIP (Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professional) certifications, and a graduate of the Thunderbird Global Business Executive Program. She holds a bachelor's degree in International Affairs/Sociocultural Anthropology from The George Washington University and a master's degree in Foreign Service/Security Studies from Georgetown University.

Steve is a leading attractions and amusement ride expert residing in Singapore, with over 14 years specialist sector experience, working with some of the biggest and most extreme amusement rides in the world. He consults in the areas of safety, project management, design compliance, risk assessment and mitigation, ride inspection, maintenance and operations management; including Ride Manager (RM) and Fire Rescue Co-ordinator (FRC) expertise. He also consults on commercial aspects for new and existing projects specifically in Singapore.

A qualified Mechanical Engineer, Steve initially worked as a consultant Engineer for Jacobs Engineering. There he worked closely with the Singapore authorities; Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF); to help develop one of the most rigorous licensing schemes in the world; the Amusement Ride Safety Act 2011 (ARSA2011). Steve maintains strong professional relationships with the various Singapore authorities and is instrumental in the development and evaluation of new technologies within the sector.

Steve has also worked for Mega Adventure, re-opening a 450m zipline in 2012. There he broadened his exposure to include commercial and operations management, business and product development. He was an integral part of a senior management team that led MegaZip to being a well-known attraction and developed new products for market leadership in mobile attractions.

In mid-2016, Steve co-founded Ultimate Entertainments Group (UEG); a collection of attraction-based start-ups which include mobile attractions and events; and were leaders in the development of inflatable products in the region, as well as continuing his consultancy. He has successfully consulted for companies such as AJ Hackett, Marquee nightclub and Marina Bay Carnival.

Since conceptualization of the world’s first atrium net playground in 2017; AIRZONE, he is the co-founder and Technical Director spearheading future sites for their imminent expansion navigating the notoriously difficult regulatory landscape in Singapore and in South East Asia.

In 2019, Steve joined DH APAC to focus on attraction consultancy. He has many notable clients where he consults in various capacities. HB Leisure, the world leaders in skill games and Marquee Nightclub. His role for HB Leisure is to grow their Asia market and for Marquee; to operate and maintain their Ferris Wheel after his initial concept cum project management role. For Mandai Parks Development, he is the lead Adventure Consultant on their new adventure aspects for their three new immersive parks currently under design and construction.

When not working, Steve is a roller coaster, theme park and attraction junky, flying all around the world to keep updated on the latest in fun and entertainment.
