5th Annual IAAPA Charity Golf Tournament
To Benefit Give Kids The World Sold Out
Alexandria, Va. (USA) - The 5th Annual International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions’ (IAAPA) Charity Golf Tournament to benefit Give Kids The World Village (GKTW) on Sun., Nov. 11, 2007 at Mystic Dunes Golf Course, in Celebration, Fla. has sold out. All player positions have been reserved and all 18 holes have corporate sponsors.
“We are thrilled at this response,” said Bill Alter, tournament co-chair. “This outing has truly become the premier charity golf event for worldwide leaders in the attractions industry and I think the support for the tournament shows how much our industry really cares about Give Kids The World.”
Give Kids The World provides children with life-threatening illnesses, from throughout the world, a chance to visit central Florida’s best-loved attractions, cost-free.
In 2007, Mystic Dunes is ranked by GolfWeek’s “Top 100 Resort Course in the United States.”
The event includes a round of golf, golf shirt, golf hat, other gifts, breakfast, lunch, after golf social, and prizes. Awards will be presented following the tournament.
The event also includes the “Rider Cup,” competition which is based on the tradition of the PGA’s Ryder Cup yet modified to pay homage to the industry’s famous thrill rides. “Every player's score is entered into a competition that then pits the top 12 scorers from the U.S. against the top 12 scorers from the rest of the world. The U.S. team was victorious last year, but we hear the international players are out for revenge,” said John Graff, retired president of IAAPA who now leads the Association’s charity partnerships. “It should be an interesting and fun-filled day. In the end though, it’s all about raising money to support Give Kids The World,” he added.
“Give Kids The World Village is such an amazing place, we continue to be a proud sponsor,” said Charlie Bray, president and CEO of IAAPA. “In addition to supporting GKTW, the golf tournament is a great opportunity for participants to network with industry leaders and IAAPA board members.”
