IAAPA Attractions Management School Courses Offer A Diverse Selection

Of In-Depth Industry Learning Experiences

Alexandria, Va. (USA) – The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) recently unveiled course listings for the Attractions Management School program at IAAPA Attractions Expo 2007.

IAAPA’s Attractions Management School is composed of six interactive, comprehensive seminars, designed to improve attendees’ understanding of the industry. Attendees will learn about cutting edge industry trends and develop applicable skills in marketing, public relations, operations, guest services, loss prevention, and safety. The Attractions Management School classes will take place during IAAPA Attractions Expo 2007 in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 12 - 16. Attendees can participate in one or multiple courses. In addition to IAAPA Attractions Expo 2007 registration, the registration fee for each course is $210 for IAAPA members and $335 for non- members. All courses will be held at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC).

Monday, Nov. 12, 2007

Media Training Class 
8:30 am – 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Participants will learn how to effectively communicate their message while handling crisis-related press interviews. The interactive class will feature a combination of classroom instruction and one-on-one practice interviews. The course is designed for anyone who could be responsible for talking with the press on behalf of an attraction or industry supplier. A significant portion of the coursework will include personal instruction and feedback from the instructor so employees at all skill levels (from operational supervisor and marketing staff to owners, general managers, and seasoned communication professionals) will benefit from participating in this course.  Limit 12 participants per session.

Marketing and Public Relations in the Amusement and Attractions Industry

Attendees will learn how to strategically build successful and effective service marketing programs.

Facility Operations in the Amusement and Attractions Industry
8:30 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the day-to-day systems, processes, and skills necessary for managing a successful amusement park or attraction.

Guest Services in the Amusement and Attractions Industry
8:30 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.

Attendees will explore the role of management in promoting a positive guest experience at all levels of the organization.

Speaker: Ruby Newell-Legner, Certified Speaking Professional, Ruby Speaks, Inc.

Safety and Loss Prevention Management in the Amusement and Attractions Industry
8:30 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.

Attendees will learn to effectively develop a proactive risk management strategy. The course will also focus on how to develop:  a safety culture among employees, emergency management plans, including how to practice them, proper record keeping techniques, and how to conduct an incident investigation.
Registration fee is $210 for IAAPA members and $335 for non- members

Presented in cooperation with AIMS International, an organization dedicated to the  promotion of safe maintenance practices in the amusement industry

Friday, Nov. 16, 2007

Birthday University
8:30 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.

This hands-on, highly interactive training program will teach owners, managers, and party team members how to produce memorable and profitable birthday parties for their attractions. Participants will learn how to design unique party concepts or re-engineer existing birthday parties to expand their businesses.
Registration fee is $210 for IAAPA members and $335 for non- members

Other Educational Opportunities Available At IAAPA Attractions Expo

Institute for Emerging Leaders

The Institute for Emerging Leaders is a two-and-a-half day program designed for dedicated industry professionals with at least three years experience, and who have a desire to be part of a senior management team.  The program is also intended for managers entering the attractions industry laterally, from other business sectors. The interactive, hands-on learning modules include a blend of classroom instruction, audio presentation, case study, class work, and field work. Coursework covers five core subject areas: Facility Operations and Safety, Revenue Operations; Food and Beverage, Retail, and Games; Marketing and Public Relations; Finance Capital; and Leadership. The institute will take place in Orlando, Fla. during the IAAPA Attractions Expo 2007, on Nov. 11, 12 and 13.

Educational Seminars

More than 96 educational seminars in nine specialty tracks will be offered at IAAPA Attractions Expo 2007. The 120 hours of programming focus on best practices, industry trends and other topics that impact performance, innovation and strategy in the attractions industry.  Specialty tracks include: Family Entertainment Centers, Government Relations, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications, Museums and Science Centers, Resale Operations (including Food and Beverage/Games/Merchandising), Small Parks and Attractions, Waterparks, and Zoos and Aquariums.

IAAPA Attractions Expo 2007

The IAAPA Attractions Expo 2007 is the largest conference and trade show for the amusement park and attractions industry in the world. With its theme “Expand Your Universe” the show will drawan estimated 25,000 people from more than 85 countries from the amusement and leisure industries to the Orange County Convention Center from Monday, Nov. 12, through Friday, Nov. 16. The trade show floor will be open Tuesday, Nov.13 through Friday, Nov.16. IAAPA Attractions Expo 2007 offers a solid week of business and fun. More than 1,000 exhibitors will display their products and services in 500,000 net square feet of exhibit space. The event will also include educational sessions, behind-the-scenes tours, marquee social events and networking opportunities. This is the marketplace where amusement and attraction industry leaders, decision makers and visionaries gather to network, view the latest innovations, and plan for the future.
