James “Chip” Cleary Elected IAAPA Third Vice Chair for 2007

 

ALEXANDRIA (Oct. 25, 2006) – The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions ( IAAPA) is pleased to announce that James “Chip” Cleary has been elected Third Vice Chair for 2007 by IAAPA’s Board of Directors.   Mr. Cleary will take office after the IAAPA Attractions Expo 2006 Annual Conference and Tradeshow held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, November 13 - 18.

Mr. Cleary has been involved in out-of-home entertainment for 28 years.   Based in Long Island New York, Mr. Cleary was Vice President of Adventureland Amusement Park where he oversaw the rebuilding and operation of Adventureland.   In 1990 Cleary supervised the construction of Splish Splash Waterpark and acted as the park’s president until 1999.   Cleary and his partners sold the park to Palace Entertainment in 1999, whereupon Cleary joined the company as Vice President of Palace Entertainment’s Waterpark Division.   Today, James Cleary is Senior Vice President of New Business Development for Palace Entertainment and part of a senior management team overseeing 32 waterparks and family entertainment centers across the United States.

Mr. Cleary has served on IAAPA’s Board of Directors, Executive Committee and served as Chairman of the Membership Committee as well as maintaining very active involvement in IAAPA’s awards committees and participating on IAAPA’s Strategic Planning Committee.

Mr. Cleary is a long time friend of the association and an acknowledged veteran of the industry.   IAAPA’s membership and staff is very happy to welcome him in his new role as Third Vice Chair for 2007.
