Amusement Industry to Hold Major Expo in Asia

ALEXANDRIA, VA (USA) (May 21, 2004) – Recognizing Asia's prominence as a key market for the amusement industry, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions ( IAAPA) will hold one of its largest expositions in Singapore this July. The IAAPA Asian Expo- which combines a world-class tradeshow, education and training program, informative tours and professional networking opportunities-- will take place July 13-16, 2004 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

At the IAAPA Asian Expo, attendees will explore the newest products and services from the amusement industry's leading manufacturers and suppliers. Safety consultants, rides, games, play equipment, admissions systems, costumes, IMAX films, and water shows will be displayed.

As Asia's largest amusement and attractions-oriented show, the IAAPA Asian Expo tradeshow will host more than 150 exhibitors, and IAAPA officials expect more than 3,000 amusement industry professionals from more than 40 countries to converge in Singapore for the event.

"Attendees can expect to enjoy aisles and aisles of the newest and most exciting products, rides and services in the amusement industry" said IAAPA President and CEO Clark Robinson. "While the expo is one of the most fun and innovative tradeshows in the world, it is serious business for our industry. What you see on the tradeshow floor this summer might be the newest features at parks and attractions next season."

The IAAPA Asian Expo educational program offerings will include the IAAPA Asian Attractions Management School, seminars on emerging industry issues and trends, and seminars for investors, developers, and new facility operators.  Program topics will include investment, cultural and global etiquette, and doing business in China. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the Singapore Science Center, the Singapore Zoological Gardens, and the Escape Theme Park and Waterpark, three of the region's most successful attractions.

With a population of more than 3.7 billion, Asia is one of the amusement industry's most important markets. As home to four of the 10 most visited amusement parks in the world, Asia attracts more than 65 million visitors annually to its largest parks, and overall attendance at parks in Asia accounts for 41 percent of park attendance internationally.
