Australian-based Zero Latency VR won the 2016 People's Choice Award. IAAPA Attractions Expo 2016 attendees selected the winner by voting for their favorite Expo booth based on booth design, branding, staffing and overall appeal. Thanks to all who voted and congratulations Zero Latency VR!

SeaWorld theme park to rise on Yas Island in United Arab Emirates
SeaWorld Entertainment and Miral have partnered to develop a marine life theme park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, set to open in 2022. The park will feature an aquarium, animal experiences and other attractions, but no orcas. The facility will also include a marine life research, rescue, rehabilitation and return center, which would be the first of its kind in the UAE and is expected to open ahead of the park. The National (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates)

Universal Studios Japan in Osaka unveils Super Nintendo World
Universal Studios Japan in Osaka said Super Nintendo World, a new area themed around Nintendo characters, is scheduled to open ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Representing an investment of more than 50 billion yen, the area will feature "state-of-the-art rides, interactive areas, shops and restaurants, all featuring Nintendo's most popular characters and games," according to a press release by the park. CNBC

Enchanted Kingdom in the Philippines to promote tourism through flying theater
"Agila: The EKsperience," a flying theater attraction set inside a nine-story building, is set to open this month at Enchanted Kingdom in the Philippines. Chairman and President Mario Mamon said the ride features 105 motion simulation seats set in front of a 544-square-meter movie screen that will display some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. Enchanted Kingdom officials have recently signed an agreement with a local network for help in promoting the new attraction.

"Freedom Flyer" at Florida's Fun Spot America getting a VR upgrade
Fun Spot America in Orlando, Florida, will add virtual reality (VR) capability to four seats on the "Freedom Flyer" roller coaster this month. Riders who opt to use the VR goggles on the selected seats will get to see a storyline featuring the Freedom Flyer character and robots while traversing the ride. Disney's Magic Kingdom in Florida to bring back Disney After Dark
Disney's Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, will offer its Disney After Dark event on seven nights from January to March next year. Ticketholders will get to explore the park for three hours after regular closing time, ride 25 of the park's attractions and receive select treats and beverages. The admission price is $119 for children and adults and $89 for Disney Vacation Club members and annual passholders.

Walt Disney World Resort in Florida releases details of Star Wars Tour
New details have been released on the Star Wars Tour experience launching next year at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. The tour will feature meet-and-greets with Star Wars characters, viewings of themed stage shows and the fireworks show and a tour of the "Star Wars Launch Bay."

AquaSplash inflatable water park debuts in Gosford, Australia
An AquaSplash inflatable water park opened to the public Saturday in Gosford, Australia. The $400,000 park covers 50 square meters and features various inflatable obstacles, climbing structures and slides. The Daily Telegraph (Australia)

Plans revealed for recreation, aquatic center in Lewisville, Texas
Residents of Lewisville, Texas, were shown plans of a recreation center set to rise in a $38.1 million project. Opening in December 2019, the facility will include a swimming pool with a water slide, a current pool, a lap pool and a kids' area; a gym and two basketball courts. An adjoining wing will feature a senior center and include a pool hall, a common area and a coffee bar. The Lewisville Texan Journal

Teenage guest at Wet 'n' Wild in Australia treated after going on slide
Wet 'n' Wild in Australia said in a statement today that it assisted a teenage girl who complained of neck pain after a ride on the "Aqua Loop." "Lifeguards and the onsite nurse provided first-aid," a representative said. The girl was transferred to a hospital in stable condition after she declared a pre-existing condition.

Clip 'n Climb facility in Nottingham, England, makes its debut
A Clip 'n Climb activity center has opened to the public in Nottingham, England. The facility's climbing area features various equipment such as Twister, Leap of Faith, Astroball and Speed­wall, and an indoor ice climbing wall. There is also a cafe, and the owners are hoping to add a toddlers' play area in the future.

GameTime to open location in Ocoee, Florida
Entertainment firm GameTime plans to build a 25,000-square-foot family entertainment center in Ocoee, Florida. The company's family-oriented offerings include around 100 arcade games, a mini-bowling alley and a full bar and restaurant. The facility is slated to open in the second quarter of next year.

Work continues on Oklahoma Aquarium's sea turtle exhibit
Construction is progressing on a sea turtle exhibit at the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks and is on track for the attraction's scheduled opening in March. The Caribbean-themed exhibit will feature a 64,000-gallon tank with three observation levels. The space will be shared by the aquarium's two loggerhead turtles with reef sharks and various tropical fish. Tulsa World (Okla.)

Repairs of fire-damaged Museu da Língua Portuguesa in Brazil scheduled to begin
Restoration on the Museu da Língua Portuguesa in São Paulo, Brazil, is scheduled to begin in late December, repairing damage from a fire that struck the building on Dec. 21, 2015. An investment of R$65 million will be made on the restorations, that are scheduled to be fully completed by March 2019. A total of R$29 million from museum's fire insurance premium, which was more than R$34 million, will fund some of the restorations. Tiger bites off zookeeper's fingertip at Florida's Zoo Miami
A 20-year-old zookeeper at the Zoo Miami in Florida lost the tip of a finger Tuesday during feeding, officials said. The keeper reportedly broke protocol by performing the feeding by hand instead of using a stick, leading to the incident. The keeper is expected to recover, and no action will be taken regarding the tiger. WTVJ-TV (Miami)

"Avatar" exhibit launches in Taipei, Taiwan
The "Avatar: Discover Pandora" interactive exhibit has opened in Taipei, Taiwan. The experience immerses visitors in the Na'vi homeworld by recreating settings from the film and featuring displays of the planet's plant and animal life. Visitors will be able to learn about the Na'vi culture and history and learn how to use an AMP suit.
