Rocco Zagra and Jessica Bodoh Win IAAPA 5K Fun Run at Give Kids the World Village

(Nov. 18, 2010) – The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) hosted the fifth annual 5K Fun Run and 1K Walk to benefit Give Kids The World (GKTW) Thursday.  Participants helped raise an estimated $8,670 for GKTW through a $25 registration fee and personal donations. The unique race path led runners and walkers through the Village, past an Ice Cream Palace and a Gingerbread House Restaurant, around a Castle of Miracles and through a “Fairy Tale Forest.” 

Finishing in first place in the 5K race for the men was Rocco Zagra, from Wet n’ Wild, based in Orlando, with a time of 17 minutes and 33 seconds.  Finishing in first place in the 5K race for the women was Jessica Bodoh, from Thunder Island, based in Fulton, New York, with a time of 22 minutes and 24 seconds. 

The 5K Fun Run and 1K Walk was held in conjunction with IAAPA Attractions Expo 2011, the largest conference and trade show for the amusement park and attractions industry in the world. This annual event took place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Nov. 14 – 18.

The funds raised in the tournament will continue to support expansion and construction at GKTW Village. Next year’s 5K Fun Run and 1K Walk will take place during IAAPA Attractions Expo 2012, Nov. 12 – 16 in Orlando.
