IAAPA Charity International Golf Tournament

New Sponsorship Program Increases Opportunities for Participation

Alexandria, Virginia
 (United States) August 7, 2008 – The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) announced today that online registration is live for IAAPA’s Sixth Annual Charity International Golf Tournament to benefit Give Kids The World (GKTW). The event takes place on Sunday, Nov. 16, with play starting promptly at 9 a.m., at Mystic Dunes Golf Course, in Celebration, Florida. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for companies who want to get involved.

The tournament allows worldwide industry leaders to enjoy a day on the links before the opening of IAAPA Attractions Expo 2008, which will be held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., Nov 17–21.

Participants are encouraged to register soon, as last year’s tournament sold out several weeks prior to the event. Registration is available online or by downloading the registration form. Out of 144 playing slots, currently only 64 remain, and registration is allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration fee of $175 includes a round of golf, breakfast, lunch, a social, and awards.


Ivan Knezovich, CEO of West Midlands Safari Park in Worcestershire, United Kingdom, plays in the tournament each year and says it is a great start to the IAAPA Attractions Expo. “You get to meet many old and new friends and then challenge them at how many balls you can lose,” he says. “Best of all, everything we give on that day goes to the amazing and deserving Give Kids The World charity.”

Sascha Czibulka, Vice President of Ride Trade International, who has played in the tournament since its inception and currently sits on the golf committee, says the event is a must for those in the industry who play golf. “The tournament is a great high-quality networking opportunity where you meet a lot of colleagues in a friendly atmosphere,” he says.


Ripley Entertainment Inc. has signed on to serve as Gold Sponsor for the fourth consecutive year. Silver sponsorships, Bronze sponsorships, and the newly-created Patron sponsorships are still available. Leisure and Recreation Concepts Inc., has served as a sponsor in the past, and President Michael Jenkins says they continue to do so because of Give Kids the World’s important work for children in need. “When you see their smiling faces and you realize you have participated in helping bring their dreams to reality—that is what it is all about,” he says.


“There has been an overwhelming reaction to the tournament over the years from players and companies from throughout the world,” said Bill Alter, tournament co-chair (along with Ed Carroll and John Graff). “But people have wanted to do even more to benefit Give Kids The World, and that’s why we created the Patron sponsorships—so more people can get involved.”
