Greeting Cards, Golf, a 5K Run, and Chances to Win
Benefit Give Kids The World

Alexandria, Virginia (United States) – Throughout the week of IAAPA Attractions Expo in Las Vegas, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions will partner with Give Kids The World (GKTW) once again to raise money for children throughout the world. Expo participants will have multiple opportunities to contribute with their time, finances, additional attractions industry items, and hand-made gifts from Nov. 16 – 20.

“Attendees can help Give Kids The World with several great opportunities during the Expo,” says Susan Storey, communications director for Give Kids The World. “Whether it’s through joining to make us handmade cards for our visiting families, participating in this year's golf tournament, or participating in the Fun Run, Expo attendees can help us continue to bring hope to children who need it most."

The following activities will take place throughout the week at IAAPA Attractions Expo to benefit ongoing family programming at GKTW Village:

  • Love Letters Project—1 – 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 15, Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino
For the first time, IAAPA has partnered with Love Letters: Random Cards of Kindness Inc. to create inspirational cards for GKTW wish children. Participants will create homemade, attractions-themed cards to encourage children who visit the Village and to send a message of hope when it is needed most. GKTW staff will distribute the messages of hope after the Expo. The afternoon should offer relaxation, a creative outlet, and an opportunity to socialize with other attendees.
Cost: US$10 covers expenses for card materials. Interested participants can sign up through Angela Albertini at aalbertini@IAAPA.org, or by calling +1 703/836-4800 ext. 774.
  • IAAPA International Charity Golf Tournament—8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16, Angel Park Golf Course (buses depart the Wynn Hotel and Casino at 6:45 a.m.); Gold sponsor: Leisure Labs LLC
In its seventh consecutive year, the golf tournament will join industry leaders from different countries and multiple facility-types for a day of sport, networking, and fund-raising. Player spots and sponsorship opportunities are still available.
Cost: US$200 per player. Interested sponsors, single players, or foursomes may register online at www.IAAPA.org/expos/attractions/CharityEvents.asp.
  • A Chance to Win a Dream Vacation: Four-Person Discovery Cove SeaWorld Package or Six-Night Ritz-Carlton Experience—between Tuesday, Nov. 17 and Friday, Nov. 20 at the GKTW booth, #2546
Two valuable prizes are available. One vacation package features four Discovery Cove dolphin-swim admission packages (which include 14 consecutive days of admission to SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica, and Busch Gardens Tampa), two rooms at select Ritz-Carlton hotels, and four round-trip Southwest Airlines vouchers.
The second package offers a six-night stay at any Ritz-Carlton location, with business class airfare between the United State and Europe included. Travel must take place before May 2010.
Cost: US$50 for one chance to win; $100 for three chances. The drawing will take placeFriday, Nov. 20 at the GKTW booth. Participants are not required to attend the drawing to win.

In a departure from the usual trade show floor scene of IAAPA Attractions Expo 2009, participants can partake in a brisk 5K run or energizing 1K walk at Pecos Legacy Park. The 10-acre park is a quick 20-minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip, and it offers access to the four-mile Pittman Wash Trail.
