In Memoriam: Bill H. Morey Sr.

Morey’s Piers & Beachfront Water Parks in Wildwood, New Jersey, recently mourned the loss of its co-founder, Bill H. Morey Sr., who passed away Jan. 11, 2017, at the age of 87. A resident of Wildwood all his life, Morey operated concessions along the town’s seaside boardwalks, and owned and operated the Ringo bingo hall. In 1969, along with his brother Will, he co-founded Morey’s Surfside Pier, which grew into present-day Morey’s Piers & Beachfront Water Parks.


SeaWorld Names New Park Presidents in Florida

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment recently announced leadership changes at the company’s Orlando and Tampa Bay parks. Jim Dean, president of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island, was named park president of SeaWorld, Aquatica, and Discovery Cove in Orlando. Stewart Clark, vice president of Discovery Cove, was named park president of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island. Dean was tabbed for the Orlando post because of the performance and growth of the Tampa parks under his leadership. Clark started his career with SeaWorld in 1993, and has worked in five of the parks, including Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.


New CEO at Denmark’s Faarup Sommerland

On April 1, 2017, Per Dam Jensen will take the reins as CEO of Faarup Sommerland amusement park in Saltum, Denmark. Jensen brings many years of management experience in the entertainment and amusement park industries to the position. He worked previously for Faarup Sommerland as a seasonal employee, human resources manager, and board member. He was also CEO in 2012 and 2013 before resigning to become CEO of Sandrew Metronome, a film and music company.


KCL Engineering Partners with Ride Entertainment

KCL Engineering, a provider of custom lighting solutions, chose Ride Entertainment as its sales partner in the attractions industry. KCL came onto the attractions scene in 2016 with three notable projects at Adventureland Amusement Park in Des Moines, Iowa, including providing a first-of-its-kind LED lighting system for the park’s new Gerstlauer roller coaster, “The Monster.” Adam Sandy, chief business development officer for Ride Entertainment, said what KCL created for Adventureland was unlike anything he’d ever seen, and made him realize his company needed to work with the firm.


ITEC Entertainment Adds Project Manager

Seth Foster joined Itec Entertainment as senior project manager. In this role, he will help lead the company’s global team of designers, planners, and technologists through the development and construction of Itec’s entertainment-based projects. Prior to Itec Entertainment, Foster worked at Universal Creative as senior show producer and WhiteWater West Attractions as vice president of business development.
