Sixth Annual IAAPA Charity Golf Tournament
To Benefit Give Kids The World Seeks Sponsors & Players

For Immediate Release
May 1, 2008

Alexandria, Va., USA
(May 1, 2008) – It’s time to sign up to play in or to sponsor the 6th Annual International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions’ (IAAPA) Charity Golf Tournament to benefit Give Kids The World Village (GKTW) on Sun., Nov. 16, 2008 at Mystic Dunes Golf Course, in Celebration, Fla. The event begins at 8 a.m. and play begins at 9 a.m. Last year’s tournament sold out several weeks prior to the event

The competition takes place on the Sunday just before the opening of IAAPA Attractions Expo 2008. Worldwide industry leaders traditionally arrive early to play, meet other leaders, and to network. Players from around the world are expected to participate this year.

Bill Alter, tournament co-chair, (along with Ed Carroll and John Graff) notes that only 144 playing slots are available. “This outing has truly become the premier charity golf event for worldwide leaders in the attractions industry, and I think the continued support for the tournament shows how much our industry really cares about Give Kids The World,” he said.

Ripley Entertainment Inc. has stepped forward as the Gold Sponsor for the fourth straight year, and the tournament committee is currently looking for additional Silver sponsors. There is already a waiting list for the popular single-hole sponsors. Those sponsors have added a bit of levity in past tournaments, “dressing” up the greens while surprising golfers as they approach with gifts, food, drinks, and a few surprises. A new level of sponsorship has been added this year, that of Patron, which will carry a low fee of only $200. “The Patron sponsorship will allow smaller companies, who want to support the event, a great opportunity to do so,” adds Bill Alter.

The event includes a round of golf, golf shirt, golf hat, other gifts, breakfast, lunch, after-golf social, and prizes. Awards will be presented following the tournament.

Those interested in becoming a sponsor should contact Angela Albertini at aalbertini@iaapa.org as soon as possible.

Give Kids The World provides children with life-threatening illnesses from throughout the world a chance to visit central Florida’s best-loved attractions cost-free.

“Give Kids The World Village is such an amazing place, we continue to be a proud sponsor,” said Charlie Bray, president and CEO of IAAPA. “In addition to supporting GKTW, the golf tournament is a great opportunity for participants to network with industry leaders,” he said.
