Brett Clark and Maria Spry Win IAAPA 5K Fun Run 
at Give Kids The World Village

 

(Nov. 19, 2010) – The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) hosted the fourth annual 5K Fun Run and 1K Walk to benefit Give Kids The World (GKTW) Thursday, Nov. 18. This is the first time since the charity event began that participants ran through the Village along the Park of Dreams, past the Ice Cream Palace, and around the Castle of Miracles. Approximately, 100 people participated in the event, which raised an estimated $2,200 for GKTW.  

Finishing in first place in the 5K race for the men was Brett Clark, from Wet ‘n Wild, based in Orlando,   with a time of 18 minutes and 27 seconds.  Finishing in first place in the 5K race for the women was Maria Spry, whose son is currently staying at GKTW Village, from Stark, Nevada with a time of 20 minutes and 4 seconds. 

The 5K Fun Run and 1K Walk were held in conjunction with IAAPA Attractions Expo 2010, the largest conference and trade show for the amusement park and attractions industry in the world. The annual event took place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 15 – 19.

The funds raised in the tournament will continue to support expansion and construction at Give Kids The World Village. Next year’s 5K Fun Run and 1K Walk will take place during IAAPA Attractions Expo 2011, Nov. 14 – 18 in Orlando, Florida.
