IAAPA Awards Programs Recognize Attractions Industry’s Best; Provide Learning Opportunities for All Awards to Be Presented at IAAPA Attractions Expo 2008

 

Alexandria, Virginia (United States) – More than 150 awards will be presented during IAAPA Attractions Expo 2008 to recognize excellence in the attractions industry. Attractions owners, operators, and suppliers will be honored for outstanding achievement in a number of areas: marketing, advertising, public relations, entertainment, exhibitions, product development, souvenir design, merchandising, training, customer service, employee motivation programs, and overall attraction design and operation. Several individuals will also be recognized for their contributions to the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) and the worldwide attractions industry at large.

The awards will be presented Nov. 17-21 in conjunction with IAAPA Attractions Expo 2008 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Awards programs include:

Brass Ring Awards (Nov. 17, 4:30-5:45 p.m.)
Each year hundreds of IAAPA members enter the Brass Ring Awards, which honor excellence in attractions industry marketing and public relations. The awards program highlights the best print, outdoor, radio, online, and television advertising, public relations campaigns, web sites, plus more.

IAAPA Hall of Fame Awards (Nov. 18, 8:45-10 a.m.)
The IAAPA Hall of Fame was established in 1990 to celebrate outstanding achievement and significant industry wide contributions to the growth and development of the attractions industry, which, like few others, depends on the imagination, talent, and vision of its dream builders. This year, the 2008 Hall of Fame inductees will be honored during the Kickoff Event on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

2008 Big E Awards (Nov. 18, 4:30-6 p.m.) – Sponsored by American Paper Optics, Heartbeat Productions, and Matt Davenport Productions
Celebrating the program’s 10th anniversary, the 2008 Big E Awards acknowledge the most outstanding examples of live entertainment, show production, and individual performance in IAAPA member parks, family entertainment centers, zoos, aquariums, and attractions. The event is hosted by the IAAPA Entertainment Committee. Reception begins at 4:30 p.m., and the program begins at 5 p.m.

IAAPA Attractions Expo 2008 Exhibitor Awards (Nov. 19)
The exhibitor awards recognize and reward the best products, services, and exhibit booths at IAAPA Attractions Expo. Forty awards in 19 categories will recognize excellence among industry suppliers. Award winners will be posted in the lobby of the North and South Concourses at the Orange County Convention Center on Nov. 19.

IAAPA Service Awards (Nov. 19, 8:30-9:45 a.m.)
Throughout its history, IAAPA has honored members for their service and contribution to the association and the industry at large. This year, the Service Awards will be presented during the General Managers and Owners’ Breakfast on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

IAAPA Souvenir Awards (Nov. 19, 8:30-9:45 a.m.)
IAAPA’s Souvenir Awards program highlights the best in merchandising and display creativity in parks and attractions. The awards will be presented on Nov. 19.

Top FECs of the World Awards (Nov. 19, 6-8 p.m.)
Presented at the Family Entertainment Center reception, this awards program recognizes the best all-around FECs. Participants share their operation techniques with their colleagues and are recognized for a job well done.

2008 Spirit of Excellence Awards (Nov. 19, 4:30-5:45 p.m.) – Sponsored by Amusement Advantage Mystery Shopping
The Spirit of Excellence Awards honor IAAPA members who are committed to excellence in training and professional development. From customer service training to employee recognition programs, the Spirit of Excellence Awards recognize standout programs in human resources. The Spirit of Excellence Awards will be presented during the World’s Best Training Practices seminar on Nov. 19.

Must-See Waterpark Awards (Nov. 17, 9-9:45 a.m.)
The Must-See Waterpark Awards recognize waterparks around the world that stand out in providing visitors a unique and memorable experience based on excellence in guest service, operations, and safety. The awards will be presented during Waterpark State of the Industry Address on Nov. 17.

The IAAPA Attractions Expo 2008 is the largest conference and trade show for the amusement park and attractions industry in the world.
