Asian Attractions Expo 2014 Grand Opening
Comprehensive international amusement parks and attractions Expo in APAC


(June 18, 2014, Beijing)  Asian Attractions Expo 2014 (hereinafter referred to as “AAE 2014”) is staging its grand opening today, and will run for three days from 18-20 June 2014. The Expo is organized by the well-known International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), the largest international trade association for permanently located amusement facilities worldwide. In its 18-year history, this is the first time the Expo has been held in Beijing, the capital of China.

AAE 2014 is the largest of its kind in scale, occupying four exhibition halls of the China National Convention Center in Beijing, covering more than 9,000 square meters of net exhibition area and attracting 325 exhibitors from around the world. It showcases the most cutting-edge products and services at home and abroad, and organizers expect more than 6,700 professionals in the amusement and attractions industry from 70 countries and regions will participate in the event, making it the top-notch exchange platform for trade and education in the Asia-Pacific region.

Unprecedented Show, Unsparing Support
This morning, a grand opening celebration was held, attended by the organizer, industry associations at home and abroad, well-known enterprises, experts, media representatives, and many more. Mr. Mario Mamon, Chairman and President, Enchanted Kingdom  in the Philippines and Chairman, 2014, International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), and Mr. Paul Noland, President and CEO of IAAPA as the officiating guests also participated along with industry leaders and representatives from some well-known theme parks and relevant supporting units.

Mr. Mario Mamon, Chairman of IAAPA, expressed his full confidence in the Expo and stated at the Opening Ceremony: “In recent years, we have witnessed the rapid development of the amusement parks and attractions industry in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in China. IAAPA choosing Beijing to hold the 2014 session this time shows its attention to and recognition of China and the Asia-Pacific market. As the premier international trade association for the amusement parks and attractions industry, IAAPA aims to promote the development of the global attractions industry. The success of the AAE this time will definitely provide a comprehensive and professional exchange platform for trade and education in the Asia-Pacific region and facilitate the region’s business expansions as well.”

First-class Exhibitors, Enthusiastic Visitors
The exhibitors come from over 30 countries and regions, including leading manufacturers and suppliers in the attractions and amusement industry. There are 325 exhibitors, of which 103 are new joiners to the AAE. The exhibitors are demonstrating many leading advanced products and technology, going far beyond the basic requirements of playgrounds and amusement parks. A vast array of exhibits is on display, including the development and design of amusement and theme parks, amusement rides, dynamic simulation equipment, water-play facilities, video and arcade games, food and beverage supplies, theme designs, high technology and much more.

The Expo is gathering together thousands of professional buyers, consisting of the managers and decision-makers of theme parks, water parks, resorts, museums, family entertainment centers, zoos and aquariums. The three-day show sets up a high-quality and efficient trade and education platform for the industry, in addition to helping nearly 6,700 industry personnel procure the leading products and services on site. It is also creating a great opportunity for industry leaders to communicate with each other, enhance their professional capabilities, and enlarge their personal contacts for mutual cooperation in the future.

On-site Educational Exchange, Value-adding Visit
Following its long-standing tradition, IAAPA provides a learning platform and resources of the highest quality, with a series of informative education seminars and exchange activities, in order to establish a platform for participants to learn from global industry leaders and experts, and to acquire practical technical and market information.

During the Expo, a series of programs is being held, including the just-concluded IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers and IAAPA Safety Institute, and eight Education Conferences from 18-20 June, with a wide range of topics covering staff management and training, ways to enhance the visitor experience, market trends discussion; sharing of the latest information on the industry in Asia, etc. At a leadership breakfast on 19 June Mr. Bill Ernest, the President and Managing Director of Asia-Pacific for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, will share some industry experience, which is a must-not-be-missed opportunity for industry practitioners and Expo delegates.

Mr. Paul Noland, President and CEO of IAAPA, said: “The attractions industry in Asia is booming and the Expo’s Education Conference is covering operations and safety to effectively support the development of the industry. The event also gathers together the global industry leaders and offers a platform for industry practitioners to learn and exchange opinions, which is one of IAAPA’s strategies to foster and encourage the growth of the industry in the Asia-Pacific region.

A Strong Comeback in 2015
The next AAE will be held in Hong Kong on 16 - 19 June, 2015. It will continue to lead the development of the amusement parks and attractions industry in Asia, creating a perfect platform integrating business development, information exchange, and connection for the attractions industry in the Asian region.

The Expo will be open for the next two days. Industry professionals are invited to visit the China National Convention Center. An admission ticket is required to visit and to attend the education conference. Limited tickets are still available for education conferences and exchange activities.
