for Attractions Industry Professionals

Alexandria, Virginia (United States) – Asian Attractions Expo (AAE) 2009 will play host to multiple social events at which attendees can share ideas, compare notes, and network with attractions industry professionals from throughout Asia and the world. An opening ceremony, opening reception, awards ceremony, and two leadership luncheons featuring keynote addresses from attractions industry executives are planned for AAE 2009, the largest conference and trade show for the attractions industry in Asia. Events will take place 10 – 12 June, 2009, at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Centre in Seoul, South Korea, and are produced by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA).

“As the largest gathering of amusement industry leaders in Asia, the Expo provides countless networking opportunities,” said Charles Bray, president and CEO of IAAPA. “Our receptions, luncheons, and other events have become known as the place where industry leaders meet and connect with one another.”

Attendees at Asian Attractions Expo 2009 will start their week at the festive Opening Ceremonyon Wednesday, 10 June at 9:45 a.m. The ceremony will feature a welcome from key industry leaders and entertainment highlighting the customs and culture of Seoul.

The Asian Attractions Expo Opening Reception at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 10 June, will continue to bring attendees and exhibitors together in a relaxed atmosphere with more entertainment and a sample of regional cuisine. Industry professionals from throughout the world will discuss the day’s experiences, reconnect with old friends, and make new acquaintances.

On Thursday, 11 June, for the third consecutive year, the Asian Attractions Awards will honor the premier attractions in Asia. The Awards are divided into four categories: Grand Winner, Large Attractions (two million annual visitors and above), Medium Attractions (one to two million annual visitors), and Small Attractions (below one million annual visitors). The ceremony will be broadcast to more than 20 countries on Star TV, Asia’s leading media and entertainment network, and a reception will follow. Following in the theme of accomplished leaders, AAE’s leadership luncheons will feature keynote presentations from senior executives in the Asian attractions industry. On Thursday 11 June, Wang Gang, vice president of OCT Holdings Company, will serve as the luncheon’s keynote speaker; Wang’s address will be given in Chinese and translated into English and Korean. On Friday 12 June, the luncheon will feature keynote speaker Lee Won Hyo, director general of Seoul Grand Park; Lee will deliver his speech in Korean, which will be translated into English. Both leaders will elaborate on their model successes and share wisdom they’ve gained from the world’s fastest growing market in the attractions industry.
