What is News Flash?
IAAPA News Flash is a free, members-only daily* e-mail that contains news stories deemed to be instructive or informative to IAAPA members.
Who receives IAAPA News Flash?
IAAPA News Flash is an exclusive publication for IAAPA members only. Full-time IAAPA member staff is eligible to receive News Flash.
How do I sign up to receive IAAPA News Flash?
E-mail newsflash@IAAPA.org with the subject line IAAPA News Flash subscription request. Please include your name, title, company name, e-mail address (if different than address sending), and company member ID number.
*How often is IAAPA News Flash published?
IAAPA News Flash is distributed daily March through IAAPA Attractions Expo in November. After Expo through February News Flash is distributed Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. IAAPA News Flash does not publish on certain holidays and notice is provided in the issue prior.
How many stories are included in each issue?
IAAPA News Flash is comprised of a maximum of 22 news articles with approximately 10 story summaries and 12 editorialized headline links.
What type of stories are included in IAAPA News Flash?
The primary focus of stories included in IAAPA News Flash is hard news involving attractions and suppliers. The stories that are included are deemed instructive or informative to either an operator or supplier. Stories highlighted may include new park openings, new product announcements, and they can indicate trends in the attractions or travel and tourism industry. Occasionally News Flash will include a positive human interest piece of industry professional.
How are the stories selected?
Our partners at SmartBrief review between 300-700 hard news stories daily involving attractions and suppliers from publications around the world. Our team looks for stories that are instructive or informative to either an operator or supplier.
Are stories ever too old to be included in IAAPA News Flash?
To maintain the integrity of a timely news service, News Flash typically does not include stories more than one-week old.
Can News Flash be translated?
IAAPA News Flash is available to read in Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish, by clicking on the flags icon at the top of the issue.
Can stories be submitted?
Members are welcome to submit story links by e-mailing them to newsflash@IAAPA.org; however, given the high volume of industry news we cannot guarantee the story will be included in IAAPA News Flash. Also, only stories that meet the criteria listed above will be considered.
Can press releases be submitted?
Press Releases are not run in IAAPA News Flash, including press releases republished in a consumer/mainstream news source. (We simply do not have enough room in News Flash to run all the press releases distributed by our 4,300 members around the world.)
Are there any exceptions to this?
IAAPA M&S members can submit news releases announcing a new product or service for inclusion in News Flash. More specific information regarding criteria and the submission process is available here.
What happened to M&S Notes and M&S News?
The information formerly located under Manufacturer and Supplier (M&S) Notes and M&S News, can now be found on Tuesdays and Thursdays under Association News.
How can I access past issues?
Back issues of IAAPA News Flash are available in the IAAPA News Flash Archives.
