Membership and Marketing and Communications Departments Reorganized

(Nov. 5, 2014) – This summer the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) hired Rebecca Turner as vice president of education, professional development, and training services, and the association reorganized two key departments to focus on global membership development.

Turner is responsible for the strategic development, planning, and implementation of IAAPA's educational offerings. She identifies global educational needs and oversees the development and creation of global education programs and products, including IAAPA Institutes, IAAPA certification programs, education programs offered at all three IAAPA Expos, and online education offerings. Turner also oversees the IAAPA Brass Ring Awards program and serves as the liaison to the IAAPA Education Committee and the IAAPA Attractions Expo Education Program Planning Committee. She brings to IAAPA more than two decades of experience in education development, conference design, professional certification, and e-learning, and will help IAAPA meet it strategic goals to grow the association's educational offerings to industry professionals around the world.

Immediately prior to joining IAAPA, Turner served as senior director for professional development at the American Dental Education Association (ADEA). She also previously worked as staff vice president, education development, at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) where she successfully led the association's effort to centralize all of the education programs and launched the NAHB University. Turner is the former associate director for the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the American Institute of Banking and Associate Registrar for the Corcoran School of Art, and has been a member of ASAE for 15 years, serving on its Professional Development Council for multiple appointments. Turner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama.

IAAPA has also restructured two departments to more effectively manage the increasing global demands of member services and event marketing. Stephanie Robert is now vice president, global membership development, marketing and services, and focuses on growing the association's membership, increasing awareness of IAAPA's membership benefits, and increasing services provided to the association's constituency groups around the world. Brand management and event marketing for the IAAPA Leadership Conference and IAAPA's trade shows and conferences in the United States and Asia is now managed by David Mandt, who has been named senior vice president, marketing and communications.
