IAAPA Attractions Expo 2013 Events to Benefit Give Kids The World and Children with Life-Threatening Illnesses

For Immediate Release

(September 6, 2013) – Registration is now open for three fun-filled events, which will take place during IAAPA Attractions Expo 2013 in Orlando, Florida, to benefit Give Kids The World (GKTW). This is the 18th consecutive year the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has partnered with GKTW as its official global charity. IAAPA Attractions Expo 2013 participants, along with their friends and families, can contribute to GKTW this year by playing 18 holes of golf at the award-winning Hawk’s Landing Golf Club, taking a scenic ride on a Harley Davidson motorcycle, or running through the GKTW Village.

Expo participants can also contribute from the trade show floor by entering the GKTW Chance-to-Win drawing or by donating leftover booth items, such as plush toys, games, t-shirts, etc., to the Village. All profits will benefit GKTW, a storybook resort that provides cost-free dream vacations for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from around the world.

IAAPA International Charity Golf Tournament
The 18-hole scramble takes place at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, at Hawk’s Landing Golf Club in Orlando. Playing slots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. (Members are encouraged to register early as the event is expected to sell out weeks in advance.) The $200 registration fee includes practice facility time, bag service, lunch, and more. Registrations can be completed for individuals, pairs, threesomes, or foursomes; the deadline is Oct. 31.

IAAPA Motorcycle Ride
The motorcycle ride begins at 8 a.m., on Sunday, Nov. 17. The $100 registration fee includes participation and lunch at Hawk’s Landing Golf Club with IAAPA charity golf participants; however, it does not include motorcycle rental(s), which is available through Orlando Harley Davidson at +1 407/238-8660. All registrations must be completed by Oct. 31.

IAAPA Charity 5K Run and 1K Walk, Footprints from the Heart
On Thursday, Nov. 21, the GKTW Village serves as the site for the IAAPA 5K Fun Run and 1K Walk, Footprints from the Heart. Registration for individual participants is $30. Registration for participants on a team of five or more is $20 per person. Runners, walkers, and silent participants can register for the event using First Giving, a tool that allows individuals and teams to build awareness and raise money for this important cause by expanding the world of giving to other networks. All participants can raise additional funds for GKTW by engaging their families and friends in supporting GKTW when they create a First Giving personal fundraising page. IAAPA will recognize the top individual and top team fundraisers.

GKTW Chance-to-Win
From Tuesday, Nov. 18 through Friday, Nov. 22, Expo participants can visit the GKTW booth (#3235) and enter the GKTW Chance-to-Win drawing for a Royal Caribbean five-day Diamond Cruise for two. Chances will be available for purchase (one chance for $20, three chances for $50, and 10 chances for $100.) A winner will be selected during a random drawing at the booth Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. Participants do not need to be in attendance at the drawing to win.

“The money raised and donations received as a result of the events that take place during IAAPA Attractions Expo help Give Kids The World deliver on its promise to create lasting memories for these special children and their families.” said Paul Noland, IAAPA President and CEO. “Whether it’s by participating in an event, supporting a friend or co-worker, or donating money or products, I encourage everyone to find a way to get involved and give back this year.”

“We are deeply grateful to the planning committee, sponsors, and participants in this year’s IAAPA charity events,” said GKTW President Pam Landwirth. “Their outpouring of love and support is truly an inspiration. The continuing success of these efforts will allow us to create the happiness that inspires hope for many more precious children.”

Exhibitor Donations
Exhibiting companies can donate products to GKTW. Additional information will be distributed to each booth during the week and will be available at the Exhibitor Services Desk behind IAAPA Central, Booth #3433, Thursday, Nov. 21, or Friday, Nov. 22.
