New York Wheel
New York City
In 2018, the world will have a new record-breaking observation wheel. The New York Wheel is set to clock in at 630 feet, making it the tallest observation wheel on the planet. Even before this mixed-use development opens, the management pursed IAAPA membership.
“IAAPA is a great place for the New York Wheel to source vendors such as ticketing systems and merchandising opportunities. It has also been a valuable resource for [learning about] documentation, such as job descriptions and crisis communications plans,” says Travis Noyes, chief marketing officer, New York Wheel, and senior vice president of marketing, Empire Outlets. “Several of the key members of the operating team, including the general manager and director of maintenance, have been members of IAAPA for many years. The knowledge and experience they’ve gained as members and participants in the IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers and IAAPA Safety Institute have been a key component in developing the operating plans for the New York Wheel.”
