Do you know what debuted five years ago this spring?
Apple’s first-generation iPad.
Stop and think about that for a moment.
In just half a decade, a tool that never existed prior to 2010 has become an integral part of our society. It and other tablet devices have changed the way we communicate, consume media, conduct business, and so much more.
The same could be said of the attractions industry. Over the past five years, we’ve seen any number of groundbreaking innovations in everything from ride design to point-of-sale systems to food and beverage … the list goes on and on.
Five years may not seem like a long time, but with the way society and technology seem to be advancing at warp speed, a lot can and will happen between now and 2020 that will change the attractions industry forever. That’s why Funworld has dedicated this issue to looking at our immediate future. Starting with Walt Disney Imagineering’s Bruce Vaughn, we’ve asked 75 of the best and brightest minds from around the world to share their perspectives on where we’re going, and what we should be doing to get there.
2020 will be here before we know it. What will the attractions industry look like by then? This issue of Funworld will give you a really big hint.
