IAAPA’s Will Morey testifies on Health Care Before U.S. Legislative Committee

On July 28, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Health Care, District of Columbia, Census and the National Archives held a hearing entitled “Impact of Obamacare on Job Creators and their Decision to Offer Health Insurance.” The hearing examined some of the early and anticipated effects of sweeping health care legislation the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which became law in March 2010.

IAAPA Second Vice Chair Will Morey testified at the hearing on the potential impact to the attractions industry in the United States if businesses are required to provide health insurance to seasonal employees. Morey discussed the unmanageable compliance costs and how they will affect Morey’s Piers’ ability to grow and create jobs. He implored Congress to address the issue of seasonal workers.

Morey’s testimony and archived video footage of the hearing are available on the IAAPA blog at www.IAAPA.org/blog.
