IAAPA EUROPE
IAAPA Europe: Map of the Industry
One of the main goals of IAAPA is to collect and distribute industry data and statistical analysis. Serving this goal, IAAPA Europe has spent the past couple of years building a database mapping the European attractions industry.
This database, which will continue to be developed, is a dynamic tool that functions as the focal point in all of IAAPA Europe’s activities. As an example, the database served as the foundation for the first European Economic Impact Study (which can be downloaded for free at www.IAAPA.org/europe) published in 2009.
With recent additions, IAAPA Europe now has a complete map of the European attractions industry. Based on this it is estimated that Europe has:
- 330 amusement and theme parks
- 300 zoos and aquariums
- 180 waterparks
- 190 museums and science centers
- 1,700 family entertainment centers
In addition, the European attractions industry has close to 5,800 companies supplying goods and services to the attractions industry, with the largest concentration in Italy, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands.
The database will serve as the foundation for more studies and reports in years to come.
At the Expo: European Reception
All European IAAPA members will receive a personal invitation to the first European Reception, which takes place at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Wednesday, Nov. 17, 7 p.m.-9 p.m. (time subject to change) during IAAPA Attractions Expo 2010 in Orlando. Attendees who register for the event in advance will receive a free ticket; however, tickets can also be bought at the event. Please look for your personal invitation by e-mail.
