365-Day Safety
In some parts of the world, kids will be wrapping up the school year, and families will be planning their visits to parks and attractions. For those in the Southern Hemisphere, parks will be closing and conducting winter maintenance and repairs.
This means reinforcing the commitment to safe operations no matter what time of year it is at your facility or company. Our industry has a great safety story, and each season is a reminder to uphold those high standards.
Operators, midlevel managers, and frontline staff—all of whom have a stake in the safety of our guests and team members—should take a step back, reaffirm the commitment to safety, and ensure every day advances that mission.
And that’s done through strong communication. Is your core message of safety simple and straightforward? It should be. Do your full-time staffers, seasonal team members, volunteers, and everyone in between know the tenets of the vision and mission of safety backward and forward? They should.
Build a culture of safety—from the top levels of senior manage - ment through every rung of the organization. Safety equals quality. When we are committed to safe practices for everyone at the park, we are providing guests a better experience overall and a better work environment for our team members.
In the next few weeks, IAAPA will reinforce the importance of safety through another installment of its Safety Institute, which takes place on the first day of Asian Attractions Expo 2010 in Kuala Lumpur, July 13-16. Have a sparkling day,

Chip Cleary, Chairman of the Board
