ROLLER COASTERS ARE BIG AND BOLD IN 2009
The past few years, some of the biggest headlining attractions at amusement parks around the world were anything but roller coasters—be they dark rides, live shows, waterparks, etc. In 2009, roller coasters reminded us why they’re the icons synonymous with the attractions industry.
This is particularly true in two specific regions of the world: Orlando and Germany. The former is experiencing a bit of a coaster renaissance with the high-profile debuts of "Manta" at SeaWorld Orlando and "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit" at Universal Studios Florida. Germany, meanwhile unveils four major new coasters this year, including "ring°racer" at Nürburgring race track, which sets a new world record for speed.
But, of course, there was much more happening this year than in just those two places. Over the next 18 pages, FUNWORLD's New Rides and Attractions 2009 highlights some of the biggest and brightest projects from around the world.
