Funworld August 2008
|
Talking with designers and marketers of new rides and attractions in 2008, a few key phrases come up over and over again: “family friendly,” “appeal for all ages,” “fun for everybody,” and the like. Indeed, even the fine-line walkers at the new Hard Rock Park worked to create an atmosphere edgy enough to satisfy rock-and-roll lovers, but broad enough so as to not offend the little rockers to be. Thus it’s easy to see why accessible attractions such as dark rides are featured so prominently this year in some of the world’s most popular destinations; or why roller coasters are trending away from monstrous heights in favor of a delicate balance with thrills that won’t scare Mom and Dad away but won’t leave their kids rolling their eyes, either. Over the next 23 pages, travel around the globe with FUNWORLD in the third annual New Rides and Attractions special section to discover what those lucky families are finding throughout the industry this summer.
