What a great trade show we all experienced this past year! Once again, the annual event was held in Orlando, only this time it took place at the new Orange County Convention Center. The new North/South complex consists of more than 1 million square feet of space, and our members occupied the entire exhibit space and almost every meeting room. That speaks well for the strength of our industry worldwide and the excitement we can look forward to in 2004.
The trade show has always been a barometer of what the industry can expect in the coming season. If this show follows suit, we can look forward to an economic upswing in 2004. Sales at the show were solid, reflecting well on the innovative product offerings.

Inside this issue of Funworld you will find convention highlights, seminar re-caps, attendance figures, and pictures of the exhibitors and events. It’s a look at where we have been and where we are headed as we enter another season.

I look forward to my year as chairman of IAAPA as the association positions itself to address additional amusement industry trade shows in Asia and Europe, global safety standards, international sister association alliances, and more in 2004. I am honored to have the privilege of serving as chairman of the world’s most successful amusement industry association. With the support of all the dedicated committee members, volunteers, and support staff, I am confident we will be able to provide the level of services you have all come to expect from IAAPA.

I want to close with my sincere wishes to each and every one of you for a successful and safe year.

Best Wishes,

Gary Story
Chairman of the Board
