October is a special month for the attractions and leisure industry. This is the time of the year when many of us are reviewing what our parks and attractions have done this year, which accomplishments and goals were reached, and which were unattainable. It is the time of year when we determine with relative confidence whether or not the year was a success. Ideas for the next season are swirling through our minds, and we can now begin contacting other companies and reaching out to members of the industry who can assist in reaching those goals. This months issue of Funworld is devoted to giving members vital information about the largest amusement and attractions trade show in the world. The exhibiting companies are listed both alphabetically and by product categories. The index is meant to serve as a preview of what will be available to all attendees at the convention in November. All the information you will need about the trade show is here, along with hotel information and rates, workshop and tour schedules, and even a map of the show floor. The second objective of this months issue of Funworld is to highlight several late-season trends, including Halloween, which have become more prominent outside the United States than ever before. This holiday can be a natural extension of the summer season, and is the perfect offering for children and families. Since Halloween has few political, religious, or social connotations, it is appealing to a broad audience. Find out some of the creative ways parks have used the scarefest as an extended season and what your park can do to bring on the ghouls. Dont forget to log onto our trade show web site, www.iaapaorlando.com to get the latest event news and information on the IAAPA Orlando 2003 Convention and Trade Show. Best Wishes, ![]() John P. C.
