Connecting the Dots
Kathy Aubruner, Give Kids The World

Dippin’ Dots has made a point. Its staff, franchisees, and customers care about the special guests who visit Give Kids The World Village. Wherever and whenever they can help, the Dippin’ Dots team members are there.

The bond between Dippin’ Dots and GKTW began to form during the 2001 IAAPA Trade Show. Dippin’ Dots first offered to send its tiny beads of ice cream to GKTW Village. The moment the tasty frozen dessert arrived, Dippin’ Dots was a huge hit. The GKTW guests definitely enjoy the fun and unique serving format of Dippin’ Dots. Every time the Dippin’ Dots cart rolls out into the Village, an instant party is formed.

Support from Dippin’ Dots
Along with an ongoing product donation, Dippin’ Dots has taken an active role in raising funds and awareness for GKTW Village. The Dippin’ Dots staff has organized an employee giving campaign that includes in-house fundraising activities ranging from chance-to-win contests to chili luncheons at their corporate headquarters in Paducah, Ky. The employees also take time to volunteer at the Village during their trips to Orlando. An entire group even found the energy to volunteer at the Village after a busy day working at the 2002 IAAPA show.

In addition to the great support the Village receives from the Dippin’ Dots corporate headquarters, GKTW has been meeting new friends in Dippin’ Dots franchised locations around the world. At the Dippin’ Dots Annual Roll Out, GKTW had the opportunity to introduce 11-year-old cancer survivor and Village alumnus David Peach to franchise operators. GKTW’s costumed character Mayor Clayton and GKTW President Pamela Landwirth also participated in the presentation, inviting the franchisees to join GKTW in its mission to help children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The franchisees responded to this request with fundraising projects at their locations, including coin box collections and special events encouraging their customers to round up their purchases with contributions to GKTW.

Dippin’ Dots Birthday
To further assist the Village, Dippin’ Dots is including GKTW in the celebration of its fifteenth anniversary. A commemorative T-shirt project will boost GKTW in a variety of ways: The left shirt sleeve features the GKTW logo, the shirt packaging has an insert with GKTW information, and $1 from each shirt sold on the Dippin’ Dots web site and in franchised locations will go to GKTW.

Looking forward to the future, Dippin’ Dots is eager to help GKTW expand its awareness and outreach. Dippin’ Dots allies in Australia and Korea are already enacting a few strategies. Dippin’ Dots pledged to help IAAPA Charity Ambassador John Graff with any initiatives. Tammy Wilson, director of sales for Dippin’ Dots, Inc., says, “I have been so moved by my involvement with GKTW and also by what it has meant to the employees of our company. If there is any way Dippin’ Dots can assist you in the support of GKTW, we would be delighted to volunteer.”
