Now that 2003 is in full swing it will be very important to prepare for the upcoming season. IAAPA has a host of exciting events planned for this year, many of which you are probably aware of, as well as a few recent developments you should know about.

IAAPA recently purchased the Asian Amusement Expo in its entirety. The Pacific Rim trade show is the second exhibition IAAPA owns and promises to be an investment that will bolster the amusement industry in that region. The trade show was purchased from the Terrapinn Group and the AAMA. David Lee and our convention department are busy putting together a management team to facilitate the booth sales while Eamon Connor, vice president of training services, is planning the conference side of the event. If you have any suggestions or ideas to offer, please contact me or IAAPA staff members directly. The show will take place July 16-18 in Suntec, Singapore.

Clark Robinson has begun the process of staffing the IAAPA communications department back to full capacity—the search for a new vice president is under way. The department will be responsible for media contact and overall IAAPA

communications. This will enable the association to remain on budget while accomplishing several points of its strategic plan. In the near future the association will be poised for whatever develops.
The IAAPA Directory & Buyer’s Guide was mailed at the end of December to all members in good standing. The book should take four to six weeks to reach all of our members. Within the pages of this year’s D&G, you will find all the information needed to conduct your business plans for 2003. The directory has been in print since 1980 and provides endless resources for your company. There is also an electronic

version of the directory online under the Members Only section of the IAAPA web site. With your password and membership identification number, you have instant access to all of IAAPA’s member information, including links to web sites.

Best Wishes,

John P. C. Collins
