Visas for travel to IAAPA Attractions Expo
If you need a visa for travel to IAAPA Attractions Expo and have not already applied for your visa with the American embassy in your country, you should do so promptly! Information about the process and your consulate web site address is available at www.unitedstatesvisas.gov. You will need a visa to enter the U.S. unless you are traveling from Canada, Mexico, or a country that participates in the Visa Waiver Program.
DO NOT WAIT! American embassies around the world have increased scrutiny of visa applications. Applicants are now universally interviewed, which increases the time it takes to obtain a visa. See the U.S. Department of State web site to ascertain the average time it takes to secure an interview from the embassy at which you are applying.
The following suggestions will increase your likelihood of obtaining a visa in a timely manner:
-
Apply for your visa as early as possible, making sure to accurately and completely fill out your application;
-
Provide all documents requested;
-
Be specific in your response to the information requested;
-
If an itinerary is requested, be specific when filling it out; and
-
Carefully explain why it is important for you to travel to the United States especially if multiple people from your company are traveling to the IAAPA trade show.
-
emphasize your specific business need to travel;
-
explain the financial benefit to your company of coming to the show;
-
carefully explain your position in the company;
-
if it is not apparent, provide documentation to show how the company is financing the trip and/the business transactions associated with the trip;
-
explain your ties to your community;
-
if you plan additional recreational travel, be specific about what it is and where you are going; and;
-
if relevant ask the American company with which you are intending to transact business to provide you an original letter noting the need for you to travel to the U.S. and the nature of the business to be transacted (see Improve your customer's chance of success when applying for a Visa).
If you are coming from a country participating in the Visa Waiver Program, please review the timeline for compliance with the new passport requirements (PDF).
