Every year the Exhibitor Awards Program grows and gains prestige as one of the industry’s most recognized acknowledgements in the industry.

Exhibitor Best New Product Awards and Best Exhibit Awards will be recognized during an updated and expanded Brass Ring Awards ceremony during IAAPA Attractions Expo 2011 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Over 30 Awards will be given:

  • 24 Best New Product awards – 12 category winners and 12 honorable mentions
  • 8 Best Exhibit Booth awards – 4 category winners and 4 honorable mentions
  • 1 Image Award – Recognizes the most outstanding exhibit at IAAPA Attractions Expo 2011 (no application/entry required)
  • 1 Impact Award – Recognizes the most outstanding product/service from the best new product categories.

Eligibility
Only exhibiting members of IAAPA Attractions Expo 2011 may compete in the Exhibitor Awards Program. All entries submitted for the Best New Product award will automatically be entered for the Impact Award. All product entries for Best New Product categories must have been operating in a park or facility beginning after August 15, 2010 and before August 15, 2011. The product or service must work and must have been put into service since the last Best New Product award eligibility period ended on August 15, 2011. An improved or updated version of an existing product is eligible for entry as a new product, if it meets the above criteria. If a product is an update of an existing product, all factors that distinguish new product from previous edition must be noted on the application form. Exhibitors who violate any IAAPA trade show rules and regulations will not be eligible for any Exhibitor Awards..

Entry Procedures: Best New Product and Impact Awards
Entries are limited to two (2) products per exhibitor, and each product may only be entered into one (1) category. Two (2) separate products may be entered into one (1) category. Each entry must be accompanied by a fully completed application and two (2) original copies of printed material per entry, fully explaining all features and benefits of the product to the user. The release authorization on the application must be signed. This gives IAAPA permission to use all materials submitted as needed. Print materials (brochures, flyers, etc.), mounted photographs, or artwork are accepted and encouraged. Award winners will be displayed at IAAPA Attractions Expo 2011. All entries become the property of IAAPA and will not be returned. Entries for the Best New Product and Impact Award must be received no later than, September 16, 2011.

Entry Procedures: Best Exhibit and Image Awards

To be considered for a Best Exhibit Award, a fully completed application must be received no later than Friday, October 28, 2011.

Image Award (most outstanding exhibit booth in the trade show) consideration does not require submission of an application.

Judging
A panel of judges comprised of IAAPA facility members will evaluate all entries. The decisions of the judges are final. Some pre-judging for Best New Product Awards will be completed prior to IAAPA Attractions Expo 2011. Final judging for Best New Product Awards, Best Exhibit Awards, the Impact Award and the Image Award will be completed during IAAPA Attractions Expo 2011.

Participating exhibitors must have their booths completed by Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in order for entries to be judged. A company representative must be available to answer judges’ questions as necessary. Awards need not be given in a category if the judges feel that none of the entries submitted deserve special recognition. The judges reserve the right to reassign entry categories if they consider another category more appropriate.

Judging Criteria for Best New Product and the Impact Award
The product or service must have been operational in a park or facility during 2011, and must not have been eligible for consideration for a Best New Product Award during IAAPA Attractions Expo 2010. The product must be new since Attractions Expo 2010 in order to be considered for the Best New Product or Impact Award.

Criteria include:

  • Benefit of the product or service to the prospective buyer;
  • Originality or uniqueness of the product or service; and
  • Quality of the products or service’s design and construction.

Award Categories for Best New Product Awards
There will be one (1) Best New Product Award and one (1) Honorable Mention Award given for each of the categories listed below. NOTE: If there are any questions as to which category you should enter, please contact Chuck Corley.

Impact Award
The Impact Award is awarded to a winner of one of the fifteen categories in the Best New Product or Service Awards that, in the opinion of three (3) appointed judges, had the most impact on the amusement parks and attractions industry this year.

Best New Product Application Process

Please complete the application in full with mounted product marketing. All entries must be received by September 16, 2011. Incomplete entries or failure to include marketing materials will disqualify an entrant. Applications may be sent to IAAPA, Exhibitor Awards, 1448 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.

Best Exhibit Awards
There will be one (1) Best Exhibit Award and one (1) honorable Mention Award given for each of the categories listed below. These awards are not for the products themselves, but for the best booth presentation in each category. The booths will be judged on originality, uniqueness, promotion of product, quality of design, and professional appearance of staff.

  • Category One                  1 – 2 Booths (100 – 200 square feet)
  • Category Two                  3 – 5 Booths (300 – 500 square feet)
  • Category Three               6 – 10 Booths (600 – 1,000 square feet)
  • Category Four                 11 or more booths (1,100 + square feet)

Description of Best New Product Award Categories:

Category One: Major Theme/Amusement Park Ride
These awards are for new products designed primarily for major rides or attractions in theme parks or amusement parks.

Category Two: Kiddie Ride/Attraction
These awards are for new products that are designed primarily as kiddie rides or for kiddie attractions in theme parks, amusement parks or family entertainment centers.

Category Three: Waterpark Ride/Attraction
These awards are for new products that are designed primarily for rides or attractions in waterpark or water activity areas in theme parks, amusement parks or family entertainment centers.

Category Four: Family Entertainment Center Ride/Attraction
These awards are for new products that are designed primarily for rides or attractions in family entertainment centers.

Category Five: Coin-operated Kiddie Ride
These awards are for the best new coin-operated kiddie rides. To be eligible for this award, the product must collect the fee automatically, with no attendant required.

Category Six: Technology Applied to Amusements
These awards are for new products that demonstrate the application of a technology that has not previously been used for the same function that the technology accomplishes in the new product.

Category Seven: Food Services
These awards are for food products, services, food equipment and suppliers

Category Eight: Games and Merchandise
These awards are for best new games products and best new products that are designed to be sold in merchandising operations, given away or used in promotions. This category includes the areas of games, merchandising, prizes for games, novelties, souvenirs, hats, shirts and balloons. Coin-operated machines are not eligible for this category.

Category Nine: Coin-Operated Arcade and Redemption Equipment
These awards are for the best new arcade or redemption equipment. To be eligible for this award, the product must collect the fee automatically, with no attendant required.

Category Ten: Revenue and Admission Control/Wristbands/RFID Technology
These awards are for the best new revenue and admission control products, wristbands and RFID Technology. To be eligible for this award, the product must be specifically related to revenue and admission control or RFID Technology procedures in an amusement facility.

Category Eleven: Show Productions and Entertainment/Displays and Sets
These awards are for the best new show production and entertainment related services and suppliers of these services. This category includes show producers, directors, choreographers, costumes, lighting and sound systems, staging, theatrical equipment and supplies, displays and sets, and suppliers of displays and sets. Also included in this category are fireworks, flags and banners, signs, scenery/sets, amusement buildings and fronts.

Category Twelve: Services, Equipment and Supplies
These awards are for the best new amusement related services, equipment and suppliers of equipment/services. Included in this category are consultants, amusement park builders/designers, insurance, publications, trade associations, advertising, promotion and public relations. This award encompasses supplies and accessory equipment such as: uniforms, canvas items, strollers, film, computer systems, cables, batteries, lights, and all other supplies and equipment not included in another award category. Amusement devices are not eligible for these awards.
