Dollywood in Tennessee moves forward on plans to expand by 5 acres
A five-acre parcel of land at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, is under development for a planned expansion. Documents filed with the city's planning commission show the addition will feature eight attractions, a restaurant and other facilities. The company says it will announce specific details later this year.

"Nordic Chaser" coming to Worlds of Fun in Missouri
Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri, is opening the "Nordic Chaser" family boat ride when the park's 2018 season begins on April 21. The park is also upgrading the track for its "Timber Wolf" wooden roller coaster, adding an overbanked 70-degree turn at the end of the experience.

Jeff Vierkant to become CEO of Arnolds Park Amusement Park in Iowa
Jeff Vierkant will take over as CEO of Arnolds Park Amusement Park in Iowa on April 2. Vierkant will succeed Charley Whittenburg, with the transition to take place during the summer.

Expansion planned for Wet 'n' Wild SplashTown in Texas
Premier Parks plans to add about 30 acres to the Wet 'n' Wild SplashTown water park in Texas. The multiyear project could cost more than $20 million and is expected to add new attractions as well as new dining venues, parking and other facilities.

Work underway on new aquatic center in Marshall, Indiana
Ground has been broken on a $3.6 million public aquatic facility in Marshall, Indiana, with an expected opening in May 2019. The center will feature a 6,200-square-foot swimming pool with six lap lanes, water slides, a diving tower and a splash pad.

March 17 debut set for Splash Zone in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
The revamped Splash Zone in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, is scheduled to open March 17. Attractions including a spray pad for younger children and a rock wall and water slides for older children will make a return with a new coat of paint. In addition, a new enclosed slide will end in the pool's 4-foot-deep section.

Edgewood, Pennsylvania, to get a Scene75 FEC
Scene75 announced that it will open a family entertainment center in Edgewood, Pennsylvania. The 90,000-square-foot facility will include laser tag, indoor go-karts, black light mini-golf, inflatables, virtual reality games, a 4-D motion theater, bumper cars and arcade games.

All In Adventures escape attraction coming to Pennsylvania
A 4,757-square-foot space at the Colonial Park Mall in Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania, will soon become an All In Adventures escape room experience. It will feature eight themed rooms including Zombie Apocalypse, Hollywood Premiere and Special Agent.

No charges to be filed over woman's death at Colorado trampoline park
Colorado's Labor Department released the results of an investigation into a woman's death after falling from an attraction at a trampoline park in Grand Junction last January. The cause of the incident is believed to be related to the initial connection between the carabiner and the D-ring on the harness, but the department was unable to discover exactly how the connection was compromised. The Colorado Division of Oil and Safety said there will be no charges filed in connection with the incident.

Group working to build a zoo in Las Vegas
The Las Vegas Zoological Society is in the early stages of planning a 100-acre zoo for Las Vegas, Nevada. According to a conceptual site plan, the zoo would feature exhibits grouped by region and other attractions including a touring motor safari ride, an aquatic exhibit, an aviary and a botanical garden. There would also be education-focused initiatives including a public zoo library, workshops and a children's safari camp.

El Paso Zoo in Texas begins work on new exhibit
Construction has begun on the planned Chihuahuan Desert Exhibit at El Paso Zoo in Texas. Slated to open by 2019, the 2.3-acre exhibit will house Mexican gray wolves, mountain lions, jaguars and plants native to the Chihuahuan Desert and will cost $14.1 million.

Plans were unveiled for a five-week attraction called the "SkyStar Observation Wheel" at the Louisville Waterfront Park in Kentucky. The observation wheel will feature 1 million LED lights and 36 gondolas.
