Jewish Pla'im Park to rise in Dimona, Israel
Plans were unveiled for a $300 million theme park in Dimona, Israel, with thrill rides and Jewish-themed educational attractions. Pla'im Park, or Park of Wonders, will feature 16 rides, including a water ride, a roller coaster and a tower ride inspired by Jacob's Ladder.

Australian Legend World in Gold Coast part of China's global investment plan
Plans for a $400 million theme park in Gold Coast, Australia, are proceeding, having been listed by the Ministry of Culture of China as among the key projects in the Chinese government's international Belt and Road investment plan. The property, which will be developer Songcheng's first theme park outside China, will feature Chinese and Australian cultural shows, housing and indoor ski fields, according to previously filed plans.

"GaleForce" at Playland's Castaway Cove in New Jersey to receive new track
Work to install a new track on "GaleForce" at Playland's Castaway Cove in Ocean City, New Jersey, is expected to begin March 19 and will push back the roller coaster's opening to Memorial Day weekend. The 125-foot-high attraction will offer a smoother ride experience as it travels at up to 64 mph.

Jobs at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey to pay up to $2 more per hour
Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey will raise entry-level wages for jobs as it looks to recruit 4,000 employees before its season begins March 24. The wage increase means employees including janitors, culinary staff and ride operators will be paid at least $10 per hour, or $2 more per hour than previously.

Larger footprint expected to draw guests to Great Wolf Lodge in Illinois
Great Wolf Resorts' brand recognition should help the company succeed with its upcoming water park resort -- formerly the Key Lime Cove resort -- in Gurnee, Illinois, the new park's general manager said. Great Wolf Lodge Illinois will have an 80,000-square-foot indoor water park, an outdoor water play area, a Great Wolf Adventure Park indoor entertainment center and dining outlets.

Contractor dies while working at Quest ATX water park in Texas
A possible drowning incident Tuesday at Quest ATX water park in Travis County, Texas, resulted in the death of a contractor. The man was working with two others at the park's floating recreation area when he fell into the water.

Indoor entertainment centers coming to mixed-use project in Chicago, Illinois
Plans for the $320 million Arlington Downs development in Chicago, Illinois, have been tweaked to add a 30,000-square-foot First Ascent facility that will feature climbing terrain, climbing walls and a fitness center. In addition, a 20,000-square-foot Funtopia play center will include a 20-foot-tall slide, an amateur climbing wall and an obstacle course.

Adrenaline Entertainment Centers to open location in Columbia, South Carolina
A 53,000-square-foot trampoline park operated by Adrenaline Entertainment Centers is coming to Columbia, South Carolina, and is expected to open by the end of next month. The $2.8 million facility will include trampolines, a virtual reality center, arcade games and escape rooms.

Planned trampoline facility in Dundalk, Ireland, moves forward
The developer of the planned We Are Vertigo indoor trampoline park in Dundalk, Ireland, has received conditional planning approval for the project. The €7.1 million complex will cover 4,540 square feet and feature a trampoline park, an indoor skydiving center, assault courses, an adventure park, a gym and a spa.

"Ring of Fire" exhibit to open Friday at Newport Aquarium in Kentucky
Newport Aquarium in Kentucky has offered a preview of its new "Ring of Fire" exhibit ahead of its launch Friday. The exhibit, which is designed to mimic the seismic activity at the Pacific Ring of Fire, features several deep-sea marine animals, including the giant Pacific octopus, moon jellyfish and giant Japanese spider crabs. There will also be a re-creation of an octopus' underwater cave that visitors can walk through.

Shedd Aquarium in Illinois ends dog-training program
Chicago's Shedd Aquarium in Illinois is sending its dog population to new homes after ending its canine-training program. The decision came as the aquarium discontinued its live dolphin show, which featured the dogs as a way to show how their training methods applied to other rescue animals.

Smoking orangutan at Indonesia's Bandung Zoo prompts criticism
A representative of Bandung Zoo in Indonesia said signs are placed around the facility warning visitors not to feed or give other items to the animals, in response to criticism it received over a video of an orangutan smoking. The video showed the orangutan picking up and smoking a cigarette that a visitor had thrown into its enclosure.

A vice president of Euro Disney has revealed plans to revamp the 44,000-square-meter Disney Village at Disneyland Paris in France, to accompany the multiphase €2 billion expansion at the resort. The official said the project could include construction of a new convention center and additional hotels.

Inbound tourism in Malaysia expected to rise with theme park openings
The continuing growth of Malaysia's theme park industry is expected to cause a boom in foreign visits, according to a Legoland Malaysia Resort official. Upcoming theme parks across the country include the Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark in Johor, slated for a late June opening, and Genting's 20th Century Fox World theme park, which is currently under construction.

Ribbon-cutting to be held today at Hummingbird Ziplines Course in Alabama
Today marks the opening of Hummingbird Ziplines Course, newly relocated from Alabama's Gulf State Park to Orange Beach. Hummingbird Ziplines Course features eight ziplines, which guests can traverse at up to 40 mph from as high as 115 feet above the ground.
