IAAPA certification check mark logo-ver3B

IAAPA’s certification program is an equivalency program and is assessed by the number of years experience and number of hours of professional development a candidate has achieved.

To prepare you for certification, use this Credit Hours Estimator to calculate the number of credit hours that you think you have earned. Credit hours can be earned from a variety of sources including participation in many of IAAPA’s events, your facility’s in-house professional development programs, other industry training and development programs as well as formal academic study. Credit hours can also be earned by being an active volunteer in IAAPA, for example, by serving on a committee or sub-committee.

How do I use the Credit Hour Estimator?

  • Enter the credit hours you estimate you should have earned from having completed the programs or courses listed.  The form will automatically calculate the credit hours you may have earned and it will then indicate how many hours you still need to earn to submit a certification application form.
  • Use of the Credit Hour Estimator is for preparation purposes only. The intention is to provide you with a guide to the number of credits hours you may have earned and can use toward certification.
  • Completion of the Credit Hour Estimator does not guarantee recognition or approval of any of programs or courses that you subsequently submit for recognition.
  • Participation in and successful completion of all programs will be verified by and approved during application processing.
  • Credit hours applicable to individual courses are subject to change.
