Thoughts on Women in the Industry


How have you built your network of women in the industry?
As many people will attest, I hate missing out, so I attend about everything I can. IAAPA aligns numerous networking events throughout the year, at pertinent (and often, amazing) venues, focused on just that—bringing the industry closer. The women I have met in this industry are fun, ambitious, smart, and focused. What do they always say … “You are who you hang out with.” Well, I’m hanging with those women and hope those attributes rub off! 

What is one piece of advice you’d like to convey to women starting their attractions careers?

Don’t be shy. Get out there and experience this industry as much as possible. Attend trade shows. Take advantage of networking events. Shake hands, get to know people, and learn about their contributions to the industry. Visit parks and entertainment facilities regularly because with each visit, you learn something new that will help forward your career.

The Future of the Industry

​Why did you join and choose to stay in the attractions business?
There are a few of us who were born into this industry and have never turned back. What’s not to love? We get to create entertainment for a living, touch people’s lives around the world, and have fun doing it!  

What is your vision for the industry in the next 20 years?
Every new generation pushes boundaries like never before. In the next 20 years, I think we’ll see some extremely unique projects. I also think we’ll see more collaboration between existing companies. Combining talents and technologies in ways that may have not been thought about, or attempted before, can only make for incredible projects. I look forward to the next 20.
