Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, New Park

Set to be one of the world’s largest indoor theme parks when it opens on Yas Island in 2018, Warner Bros. Motiongate Dubai, New Themed Area

The World of the Hunger Games” features newly designed marquee attractions, never-before-seen content showcasing talent from the film, iconic walk-around characters and entertainment, dining, and retail experiences that include:

Panem Aerial Tour: A hovercraft simulator experience with an exciting twist, featuring custom content created exclusively for Motiongate Dubai.

Capitol Bullet Train: A half-pipe roller coaster that transports guests to the Capitol, featuring a forward and backward launch and multiple inversions.

 

Belgium    

Bellewaerde Park Belgium, New 4D Movie

Spend a day at Bellewaerde with the entire family and enjoy the fun, adventure and spectacular discoveries. Enjoy the parks’ new 4D movie: The Son of Bigfoot.

Adam sets out to trace his long-lost father and faces an unbelievable revelation: his father is no other than… Bigfoot! Join them and all their quirky animal friends, for the 4D adventure of a lifetime.

Walibi Belgium, New Themed areas

This season Walibi presents a family funcoaster in a completely new Exotic world! Are you ready for a crazy ride with the whole family on an exotic circuit? Would you like to race on top of the heads of other visitors above the woods of the park? Or would you prefer to walk along gigantic totems, palm trees or constructions made of bamboo and straw in the Exotic world? It will all be present in Walibi.

Aqualibi Belgium, New kids area and theming

Aqualibi will have a Caribbean theming and new aquatic fun, now also for kids who can’t swim in Kiddie Bay. Wooden multicolored façades, exotic cocktails and sparkling salsa: the Caribbean submerge Aqualibi.

Denmark

Djurs Sommerland, New rides

For the 2018 season, Djurs Sommerland has again made six-figure investments and will be unveiling two new attractions. New experiences await the whole family when a children’s coaster and a family ride, are ready for the season opening. Visitors to Djurs Sommerland will get to try out the Safaribussen family ride and feel the exhilaration of riding the Jungle Rally children’s coaster.

France

Futuroscope, new rides

Futuroscope’s park is always more kids friendly and opens this season with a new outdoor playground, The Balloon, embodied by an old oak tree called Végéto, and his young friend, a kingfisher named Petizèle (“Small wings”). These 2 characters will lead the children through puzzles and puns and  will make them learn all about trees. The audience will also discover a unique and exclusive IMAX film about French astronaut, Into Thomas Pesquet’ eyes, and his amazing trip into space, storytelled by French actress Marion Cotillard. Last but not least, Sebastien Loeb Racing Xperience, released April 7th 2018, is the newest big attraction: 108 visitors at a time board in individual bucket seats on simulators. With the most powerful HTC Vive VR display, they will experience a 3 minutes ride as France World champion’s copilot. This is the first inclusive VR 5D with simulator and special effects attraction in Europe.

Parc Asterix, new hotel and ride

After a record season with more than 2 millions visitors, Parc Asterix continue its development by opening a new hotel « La Cite Suspendue » by the summer. Parc Asterix wants to become a two-days destination and will open a third hotel in 2019, « Les Quais de Lutece ».

During the summer season, Parc Asterix will propose an animal show in a renovated 200-seater and a new-generation spinning bar, and a lot of late-night opening.

Puy Du Fou, new show

In 1785, board one of the ships of the explorer La Pérouse. Leave the port of Brest and set sail to brave the unknown waters. On board the ship, take part in the great discoveries, from Cape Horn to Alaska, and finally Vanikoro…  and endure the most formidable storms! You will experience, from within, the odyssey of an expedition from which there was no return: the mysterious voyage of La Pérouse!

Disneyland Paris, new events and multi-year investment plan

Disneyland Paris continues to innovate with 2 new events launching in the 2018 season. From 31 March until 31 May the “Festival of Pirates and Princesses” is organized for the first time. Everybody is invited to experience shows and attractions, and enjoy a variety of entertainment at Disneyland Park including Meet & Greets with Disney Characters. The latest addition is Disney Pirate or Princess: Make your Choice! a wholly interactive show with more 85 performers. Marvel Summer of Super Heroes at Disneyland® Paris - From 10 June to 30 September - brings the Marvel universe to life at Walt Disney Studios Park for more than three months. For this event – the first of its kind in Europe – guests can participate to a dance-off with the Guardians of the Galaxy, watch the ruthless Loki try to seize power, meet Captain America and be awed by an amazing show. Disneyland Paris also announced a multi-year expansion plan of 2 billion euro including a vast expansion of the Walt Disney Studios Park.

Germany

Europa-Park, Themed Areas, redesigned rides and shows

In the 2018 season, Germany's largest theme park will show its dedication to its beloved neighbour, France. After extensive modernisation, visitors to Europa-Park can look forward to a redesigned French themed area. With a fresh look, new attractions, and new gastronomic offerings, the Grande Nation will be the highlight of the coming season. Starting this summer, young and old alike will be able to look forward to the redesigned Eurosat – CanCan Coaster, including yet another Coastiality experience. From the start of the season, the new face of the former attraction Old 99 will thrill all as Michael Ende's Jim Button ‒ Journey through Morrowland. Also new is the arrival of the beloved bear Paddington to the English themed area, whereas in Greece, an entire ice show will be dedicated to the cuddly children's book figure. In addition to that, over 100 attractions across an area of 95 hectares and more than 23 hours of daily show programmes will be sure to get hearts racing. Then, once the whole family has explored 15 European themed areas and experienced various adventures, the five park-owned themed hotels invite guests to relax and unwind together.

Holiday Park, Indoor Park

Next summer, Holiday Park will open a brand new themed area called Holiday Indoor. In this new covered area visitors can enjoy 7 attractions based on the popular Studio 100 characters Heidi, Tabaluga and Mia and me. Holiday Indoor will also include a brand new theater for the daily character show. Holiday Indoor is an investment of 7,5 million euro.

Heide-Park, Themed Area

For 2018, Heide Park Resort is going to open the first and only Peppa Pig Land in Germany. Based on Entertainment One’s (eOne) popular animated TV series Peppa PigTM (in German Peppa Wutz), the brand-new themed area will extend the park’s existing family offering and give preschoolers a chance to step into the wonderful world of Peppa and friends. The new Peppa Pig Land will include four exciting rides; families can explore Peppa’s house, ride on George’s dinosaurs through six exciting scenes, take a journey on Grandpa Pig’s train or sail a ship over the sea. Another highlight for children will be the Meet & Greet sessions with Peppa and George.

Schloss Dankern, Rollercoaster

In 2018, Schloss Dankern is introducing Germany’s first rollercoaster in a holiday park. The rollercoaster will be set in a medieval castle setting bringing visitors back to the Middle Ages. Also for children there is a playground in the village and tower of the castle based on important inventions from the Middle Ages.

Italy 

Gardaland, themed area

Gardaland’s great news for 2018 is going to be Peppa Pig Land, a dedicated themed area within the Park offering children and families three new fantastic Peppa Pig themed attractions to enjoy. Peppa Pig Land - which will debut during the season 2018 at Gardaland - will be located next to Fantasy Kingdom. This new attraction will further expand the preschool offering for families at Gardaland, which currently boasts Prezzemolo Land and Kung Fu Panda Academy for the little ones.

Mirabilandia, expanded water park

In June 2018, Mirabilandia, the biggest entertainment park in Italy, will expand its water park Mirabeach doubling its size (now almost 40.000m2), inserting new attractions like an amazing wave pool, 6 new water slides, VIPs Areas new food and beverage kiosks and a totally renovated shop. This investment will insert Mirabeach into the list of top players in terms of water parks in Italy.

Netherlands

Efteling, new shows and services

On 31 March 2018, Python – Efteling’s iconic oldest roller coaster built in 1981 – will reopen after being broken down and rebuilt almost completely. The experience will remain the same, reflecting the double corkscrew, the helix and double loop. Efteling launches the free Boarding Pass with which visitors can book a ride at a specific time in a 15-minute slot. In April and May Efteling introduces its first Efteling International Blog House. A house in Holiday Village Efteling Bosrijk will be taken over exclusively by international bloggers and vloggers for two months. From 12 April, Efteling's top attraction Dreamflight (Droomvlucht) through virtual reality is accessible for disabled visitors. In 'virtual Droomvlucht' disabled visitors see, feel, smell and hear the same as their company, who are experiencing the attraction at the same time. Visitors are also connected with their party by headphones and microphones, so they can experience the attraction together. In September Efteling will launch a new show called CARO directed by famous Dutch actor and director Stanley Burleson. Created for an international audience, CARO will feature stunning visuals, dancers, music and acrobats, as well as special interactive roles for children.

Slagharen, New entrance and entertainment

Slagharen is visiting its 55th anniversary in 2018. As part of the celebration, the park is introducing a brand new entrance and a complete new entertainment offering. Characters Randy and Rosie will have their own show and there will be a new show in the American Circus Theater.

Poland

Majaland Kownaty

Majaland Kownaty is a brand new indoor and outdoor theme park in Poland, located 90min from Berlin (Germany) and 90min from Poznan (Poland). The park will later this year and will count more than 25 family attractions. Maya the Bee, Vic the Viking, Heidi and Bumba will be the main characters of the new park. There will be a daily show with Maya the Bee and her friends Flip and Willy.

Spain

PortAventura World, kids area

New for this year in PortAventura World  is the Ferrari Land kids’ area where children will be able to enjoy an authentic Ferrari experience suitable for their age. This area, inspired by the famous world of motor racing and the Cavallino Rampante, will feature five new attractions that embody the spirit of the legendary Italian team. The area is situated next to Red Force and the five new attractions will join the 11 that were launched in Ferrari Land last year.  The new additions have been integrated into the park’s existing offering that positions PortAventura World as a unique holiday destination where families can enjoy the wide range of facilities across its three parks and five hotels.

Sweden

Liseberg, rollercoaster

This year Liseberg celebrates its 95th anniversary! The celebration and the news of this year’s summer season includes the new Bolliger & Mabillard dive coaster Valkyria – Liseberg’s biggest investment so far and Europe’s longest and highest dive coaster. Valkyria will have four different queues, including a single rider line, a completely new storage system for the guests’ belongings and a Valkyria-themed souvenir shop at the exit. Also new is that the Liseberg classic wave swinger Slänggungan, an old favorite of many guests, gets replaced by a brand new one from Zierer.

United Kingdom        

Alton Towers Resort, rollercoaster

In 2018, Alton Towers Resort presents Wicker Man, the first wooden rollercoaster to be built in the UK for 21 years, with the unique thrill of fire. The ride has a height of 17.55 meters and will ride with 2 trains. Before boarding Wicker Man, riders will embark on a journey into the world of the Beornen, a secret community living in the woods around Alton. Lured in by chanting, rhythmic sounds and unseen eyes watching them, guests will ‘be chosen’ to take part in the cinematic ‘pre-show’ before braving the ride itself.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach, rollercoaster

ICON, which will launch in later the spring, will be the UK’s first double launch rollercoaster and at a cost of £16.25M represents Blackpool Pleasure Beach's largest ever investment.  ICON will launch visitors on an exhilarating journey where they will feel the same acceleration as a Formula 1 driver before twisting and turning at high speeds across the park, interacting with other rides.  A second boost of speed will then launch riders to heights of 88.5ft, with drops of up to 82ft, giving even the bravest of thrill seekers an unforgettable experience.
